It says they are asking for a mid to late 1st round pick. I think that is ridiculous for a 33 year old, even if he still an elite defensive player. I don't think there is anyway they will get that, so my best guess is they are trying to drive up his trade value. I say the Pats offer their 2nd rounder.

I know this has been beaten to death on this forum, but it appears that the Fins are slightly more actively looking to deal him.

Parcells would never sign off on him going here. God damnit I miss the Dolphins having incompetent guys running the show.

Hopefully I'm wrong.

Re: Rumor - Fins Shopping Taylor

If what the Redskins reportedly were offering for Chad Johnson is true, than I would be asking for a mid-first rounder as well. The stupidity of some of the people who run these franchises never ceases to amaze.

I am going to miss being able to laugh at the Dolphins. In two years they will be a solid number two team in our division.

Re: Rumor - Fins Shopping Taylor

They want Chad Henne and need to get back into the first round to do it.

I'd love Taylor on this team, but obviously we can't afford the price. Even if we had the 31st pick, I couldn't see it.

Jacksonville sounds like a reasonable suitor, but spending 1st round picks on rentals rarely pays off. You're losing a good player (if you draft well) with an affordable 5 year contract for a guy who's almost done. But somebody will do it. Look what Minnesota gave up for Jared Allen.

Re: Rumor - Fins Shopping Taylor

The deal Allen just got is ridiculous, and even though he is older, I'd argue that Taylor is a better player. If he wants money, and I think despite his age someone would give it to him, then he'll never come here. But he has been so complimentary of the Patriots and the players, I wonder if he'd take an excellent shot at a ring over the money I think he could garner.

Parcells might do it if the price is right, but I don't think we have a pick in the right place. Our first rounder is too high to give up for Taylor, and our 2nd rounder is too low for Parcells to make the deal. If I was Parcells, I would be thinking that I'm rebuilding here, so I won't catch the Pats this year, and probably not next, and if I could get a franchise-type player in exchange for 4 games against Taylor, I would do it. Taylor will be ancient by NFL standards in two years and even if he isn't retired, he probably won't be a threat anymore.

I wouldn't buy too much into "the Dolphins won't trade Taylor to the Patriots because their a division rival". It's unlikely that the Dolphins will be able to compete with the Pats for the next couple of years and Taylor may only have two or three good years left in him. Taylor deserves to be on a winning team and the Dolphins clearly can't give that to him. If the the Dolphins lower their price to a 3rd rounder, I can see the Pats giving them their Oakland pick.

Agreed - this will happen if the pats put together the right PACKAGE of picks.

same thing i thought....they want chad, and really need a 1st mid to late rounder to get him....otherwise no cigar

but i still doubt its gonna happen

I have a huge man crush for Jason Taylor in a Patriots uniform. However, giving up a first or second rounder is just out of the question. I'd offer up say a 3rd and a 5th at the most. Either way he isn't going to be a Patriot. To be honest I'd rather pick up Groves & Cason than get Taylor at this point.

same here...

Would love Taylor, but not for a first day pick.. the thrid and fifth that someone mentioned would be ok..

Please insert the obligatory Tom Brady quote about the best defensive opponent in the league he has faced here: [ ]

Jared Allen is a different case though. He is a 26 yeard old in his prime who is a dominant pass rusher. That's well worth the 1st and 3rd that was paid. JT for a 1st rounder is borderline ridiculous though. The guy is 33 and in the twilight of his career. The most I'd offer for JT is the Pats high 3rd round pick. I could part with the late 2nd rounder to save them face if the Fins throw in their early 4th rounder.

Does anyone know if he can decide where he's traded to?
If he has the ultimate vote of yay or nay, I can see him being traded to the pats, and us not having to give up the farm to get him. This has seemed to be in the works in one way or the other since last season. Not in any real capacity, but just in all the great compliments being thrown back and forth. I half expect to see a picture on the news of Jason Taylor holding Brady's baby by now

If Taylor is going anywhere, it's going to be Jacksonville. Peace out, Jason. You will not be missed here.

Lets say Ryan starts to drop and he is there at 7. I know I would LOVE to trade our 7 for Taylor(same $$) and Miamis #1 in 09! Taylor will replace Rosie, and we would then insure Rey will be a patriot next year! Maybe another pick or 2 gets thrown in(their 2nd 2 for our 2 next year)....but it really opens up the options.

I would love to see this happen, but I don't see how Miami would do it--it would weaken their defense, and I'm not sure Parcells wants to give up his first next year unless he absolutely has to.

Yeah, that's all we need. Jason Taylor on a playoff team. I don't mind facing him in 2 useless games. Taylor is the kind of guy that can kill your team singlehandily in the payoffs.
