PFT: Emerging rumors of BB and SP to Giants

Status
Not open for further replies.
Why would anyone be surprised at the rumor? BB used to work for the Giants, he's the best coach in the game, and the Giants are in the market for a GM (who could also fire Coughlin and become the coach). The rumor is obvious... so obvious that there doesn't need to be any actual substance behind it (at all!) for it to propagate and persist.

And don't diss profootballtalk, it's one of the better sites out there. Anyone who dismisses PFT just because it's a one-man internet show yet gives credibility to some of the idiots on ESPN/FOX/CBS/NBC just because they are on ESPN/FOX/CBS/NBC needs to reconsider, PFT is an excellent site.

....
Sure right this makes all the sense in the world

Certainly does.

But it's humiliating that such dramatic news should appear in a gossip column first.
Don't Belioli owe it to all their Big Apple admirers
to leak this to the New Yorker magazine
... where all important scientific, social, and political announcements appear first ?

Huh? Do you mean BB would recommend him or that he approves of him now?
BB has recommended Seeley as an excellent HC candidate. Pony Express has a paragraph highlighting some of the same reasons BB listed when he was discussing Seeley's qualifications. BB himself is a former STs coach and has commented on how it helped him develop as a coach. You can probably find the actual comments by searching the press conference archives on Patriots.com using Seeley's name.

is this away to trow a wrench in their playoff run........NO FREAKEN WAY DUMBA-S.......GO PATS!!!!!!!:rocker:

BB recommends him.

Maybe that's a case of machiavellian motives coming from BB. Think about it. Your leaving for another NFL job, and in this highly-competitive world you need to gain advantages over every opponent in order to win fast. There's more than just a few who wouldn't recommend the truly best person for their old job.

Seely? Out of all of the current coaches here? ST background be damned, there's bound to be better candidates for this team.

Just for fun, I don't see Weis coming back as HC of the NEP - my first pick would be Brad Seeley, STs coach for the NEP.
Urban Meyer, baby. I'll change to UrbanFan

Or how about McDaniels ?

I'd rather give the job to Meyer, Weis, Pees, Mangini, Scarnecchia, Ryan, maybe even Pepper than Seely. McDaniels I'm not so sure about.

Brad Seely and Scarnecchia coached the SMU O-line together in the early 80s... Yes that O-line, the one that paved the way for the greatest backfield in college football history, the PONY EXPRESS of E.D. and Craig James. Brad Seely can coach the N.E.P. any day in my book.

Wrong time frame Sey, BB's remarks were made before this season.

In the offseason? I think my point stands whether he said it a day or 5 years ago. Would he really recommend Seely over Weis?

Belichick can eclipse Vince Lombardi if he stays here ... he has no guarantee of ever having another Brady QB and lead a team for him. Through all the rumors one point is always missed by these ******s. Belichick bought a house for him and/or his wife on the Cape...if he's really seperated from her that means he'll want to stay close to his kids...he's with us either on the field or front office for at least another 4-8 years minimum IMO.

PFT is an excellent site. A very fun read day in and day out. You have to take it with a grain of salt though. I've read some wild rumors on that site that never came close to becoming reality. He's wrong a lot, but on the whole Florio does a terrific job.

**sigh** BB's remarks were not a recommendation of one coach over another, he was talking about which coaches on his staff would be good candidates for a Head Coaching opportunity - Seeley was one of the people he mentioned, which prompted discussion since the media folks reacted with the same skepticism you are showing.

I fully expect Belichick to be in NE next year. And the year after. But things change. People get bored. Relationships fizzle. The grass looks greener. It can happen - even to a coach who's won a few Super Bowls.

My take is that BB helped Mr. Kraft expand this franchise into one of the elite franchises in the NFL.. Mr. Kraft has a golden touch, and he knows who his major players are.. Mr. Kraft continues to make very good business decisions... I suspect that BB has been very well taken care of by the Kraft family and they will do everything to keep him here. BB also is firmly entrenched into the NE life, he has property in the Vineyard and his youngest son goes to a NE school.

I just don't see this happening, I envision BB coaching here until he is done with his profession and then the Kraft family will keep him as a consultant to keep this franchise focused. Do not think this is wishful thinking, but from what I have heard he is staying and it is only a rumor, maybe started by the Jets or some other playoff team as a distraction.

What???? He'll have a Manning, what could be better? (eyes roll)

I think its premature to discuss on this, while the Pats are still fighting. Probably this is psywar/disinformation from the Jets. GoPats:rocker:

Still but who would start such a ignorant rumor to begin with.

I can ujnderstand the Weis and Pioli connections.

But you know what? *** k it lets just say Bill Belichick is going to New York?

Why? Who knows. Maybe he wants to share his stadium with Mangini or finish the job that Parcelss did or some stupid crap.

Pisses me off to no end.

What, we're not ready for McDaniel to take over?

Foolish rumor in my book. A coach dreams of having a QB like Brady. There is no way he is leaving. Like GJAJ15 stated earlier, I can see him retiring at some point and becoming a consultant to the team if that's what he wants to do. I just don't see him leaving the Patriots for the Giants or any other team any time soon.

Heard Belachick was was going to trade Brady for manning and trade both of this years#1 for gaberial.
