I remember Breer saying a month ago that he felt there was a decent chance Mac would be traded and that internally NE did not feel there was a big gap between Mac and Zappe.

I could see this, I could see BB possibly thinks Zappe is better and more mentally tough.

If it happens I’ll be fine with it, if it doesn’t I’ll be fine with it. Camp competition will sort it out anyway.

I’m sure there are other teams that would be quick to leak such news to sow more dissension in the Pats’ organization.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't remember a lot of times the Pats moves were leaked to the media before they were made, whether they were leaked by the Patriots or another team.

If this report is true and BB trades Mac, he'd better hope Mac doesn't do well elsewhere. If Mac flourishes and the Pats continue to struggle, the BB as GOAT legend is over and BB will be indeed be fired.

I think Bill would probably prefer a kid who's 30% less talented but 100% more mentally tough. That is just my opinion though. Bill might've already seen the writing on the wall with the crying after losing last year, tried to give him a bouquet of flowers in the media last offseason to puff him up and see what he got and wasn't happy with the results.

Amazing how everyone thought Bill O'Brien was the right hire because he was familiar with Mac, only for Mac to get traded? Makes the hiring of O'Brien even worse.

With that being said, I'm rooting for Mac to getting traded.

No, BOB, like Bill, believes in the chain of command and Bill knows him well. That’s why he was hired. Most of the guys who broke the chain of command are gone. Brady could get away with it occasionally because of his dedication, talent and football IQ. Mac isn’t anywhere near that, at least not yet.

I have to imagine the trade would be less about "Mac was bad last year" and more about "Mac undermined me, I need to set an example."

If it is the latter... Then Bill better kick ass this year. I mean he really needs to prove it to the haters right now. We already know this, but if you're willing to off-load Mac - a QB that a lot of people think got the bad end of a deal last year - then it's doubled up. While I understand why a coach would potentially be frustrated about those reach-outs, he is culpable for the circumstances that led to Mac doing so. He is culpable for everything this past year and reallllyyyyyy needs to win hard if he wants to keep up a strict, no-BS demeanor.

Because Bill is the general of his team and you don’t disrespect the general or his orders.
Factor in the fact that Patricia and Judges reputations have been ran over by a 18 wheeler it’s a mixture of the guilt he has for hurting his friends reputation and the audacity for players to question their coaches.

As far as why he moved them?
