in an alternate universe maybe...but not on the field...and not after review by Pereira on NFLN today...not sure where you come up with these definitive opinions of yours...maybe we should all take a course in interspecies communication to better understand the denizens of Planet Moron

I don't agree that the correct call was made on the field. what bothers me is the INCORRECT call was made on Gaffney's catch, but the refs didn't have the sacks to overturn it
Well that's TOO bad for you! I would not expect anything else from a bias Colts fan.

So, I am unsure what the REAL rule is.\

Anyone who has read your posts know that you are unsure about most things. What is always amusing is that you'll make a statement like "It was incomplete" or " "It was a fumble" and they say you aren't sure of the rule.

Which is why He Ban Me is a complete idiot!

Contrary to what you might believe, most the rest of the country was going "WTF "
Sorry, it wasn't an obscure rule, and tuck is a concept understood by everyone. Even in 2000 if you asked anyone what it meant for a QB to tuck the ball they would tell you. "He tucked the ball and ran for a first down."

It just wasn't understood well. I'm sure every Jets fan knew about the rule, and I believe it was called against the Redskins that year, also.

Just because you don't know something, doesn't mean the rest of the world doesn't know.

The big complaint (from non-gnorant people) was not that it was obscure, but that it was a "bad" rule. Even though it was looked at in the off-season, and no changes were made, many still think it is a bad rule.

There is some truth to it not making sense. The touch-the-body aspect is so that refs can make consistent calls. A ref cannot judge intent with any consistency, but every ref on the planet can judge if the ball was tucked or not.

Ban Me, even if it was incomplete, Bart Scott's psychotic meltdown would have given the ball to the Patriots 1st and Goal from the 2 with 2 timeouts and like 50 seconds to go.

The TD was inevitable, especially with the way the Ravens defense lost their collective minds, if nothing else, you could argue that the referees awarded the Patriots the TD there, to allow the Ravens time to tie the game. Omg, conspiracy.

Jeez, are you really that stupid, or just acting this way to be contrary?

Why would it take "sacks" to make a decision that would bring 70,000 people to their feet cheering? It took integrity (or "sacks" as you call it) to validate the call in the face of a vocal and disapproving crowd.

You do know the game was played in Baltimore, right?

Most of the people who think the pass was incomplete don't realize that what you need is to have control of the football, and having one hand on the ball without it bouncing constitutes control. Those who say that one of Gaffney's hands left the ball do not realize that you can legally catch a ball one-handed. (The Colts had a TE that would sometimes make one-handed catches on the run. Forget his name.....went to the Bucs, I believe. Chris Cooley does it also.)

You can also change the ball from left hand to right as long as you don't toss it. But if you always have one hand or the other controlling the ball, you are not bobbling the ball.

Interestingly, they didn't include it on Total Access but Pereira did address the reversal in the Colts game in during the Replay of the Jags-Colts on NFLN.

"Utecht's going to the gound to complete the catch, on his own. So therefore, when reviewing it, whether the ball gets knocked out by the defender, the ground, or comes out on its own, it's an incomplete pass."

why is that a surprise...that's the exact words your daddy said to mommy the day you were born

Now that's funny!

Note to all: The next time you want to know what the entire country thinks or feels, check in with He Ban Me.

It's a shame, about how the NFL network closed out the Pats Ravens game, with all the whining from the RAven's players. The game was much better than that, and not how the Raven's players should be remembered for the game. They should be remembered for the all out effort they gave against the Pats. It was one of the best games I have watched this year.....

In stead, all that will be remembered and talked about is.....Scott's double unsportsman like conduct, Rolle's "Boy" and Macalister's "NFL wants to crown them"......

This is odd, seeing as before the "tuck game", who had ever heard of the "tuck rule"?

I had. The rule was used against the Pats earlier that season when playing the Jets (IIRC). It's been in the rule book for at least ten years or so. Is it a little obscure? Sure but it's still on the books...and it was used prior to the Snow Bowl.

Iwhat bothers me is the INCORRECT call was made on Gaffney's catch, but the refs didn't have the sacks to overturn it
incorrect??? THAT is the DUMBEST thing I have heard...you are totally dumb...anyways..IF it was overturmed the Pats would have had teh ball first down at the 2..BIG difference..
