Pereira: Time was messed up on Giants last drive, would have added 8 seconds to game

Re: NFL: Mike Pereira there was an error with the clock

Glad this came out, it really started getting to me when the ump made the signal to wind the clock, and it just sat there on 1:28 for a good long while and the end of the play stopped the clock with 1:20. To keep me from getting paranoid, I told myself it was just Fox's clock that was messed up (obvious that wasn't the case after it was adjusted) and that it wouldn't have made a big deal, and who knows if the Pat's last possession would've been called differently with a little extra time.

It's all hand waving at this point, I'd have much rather seen a penalty called for holding when the guy had Seymour in a choke hold as he tried to get at Eli, but chalk that up as another thing that really doesn't matter at this point. It's only evidence that the Patriots don't get every single call, as some fans would like to make you think.

C orrect me if I'm wrong, but we're talking about 18 seconds that should have been run off the clock, not an extra 8 seconds.

Trust me, if the Patriots had scored, this would have been a huge huge huge CONSPIRACY.

You are right. I misread the story. My fault for skimming through it rather than reading it in full. My bad.

Re: NFL: Mike Pereira there was an error with the clock

Well, you can't run into a receiver with the ball in the air and then try to make a play on the ball. That's the rule. If you have a problem with the rule, fine, but don't trash the guy for applying the rule correctly.

Except the defender has every right to the ball as the receiver. Both guys were looking back at the ball and they brushed against each other. That is incidental contact. Many national guys called it BS! There was a very similiar play later in the season with two other teams other than the Pats where PI wasn't called and Pereira said the defender didn't commit PI because he he had a right to the ball. At best he is inconsistent in understanding of the rule.

Sorry, Pereira used to be more honest, but I see him doing everything possible to defend his refs on TV now. And I am not just saying on Pats related plays.
