Now lets assume they sign Brandon Scherff (the best OG left on the marker) at 5-6M/year
Let's also assume they sign OT Tyron Smith at 7.5M/year
Keep in mind these are likely the 2 best and most expensive players at their position left on the market. Let's say it cost them 14M to sign both. (it won't for year 1... but let's say it does).. they still have about 26M to play with before they need to worry about eating into the emergency fund or draft pick money...
What else do they plan to spend it on if they sign Locket for his estimated 8m this year? That would leave them 18M more to spend... on what exactly? What is left to spend on? What spot is more important... They could always use more help on the DL of course... but who specifically would cost that much that would be better than bringing Cooper or Diggs here? I don't see it.
My guess the contract they offered Diggs, where he said think you for a lovely evening got forwarded to Lockets agent.Once again kraft super cheap. Patriots trying to find value at WR by dumpster diving
Lockett is completely washed up. What are we doing?
Poor Drake Maye
This is something we're going to be saying a lot this seasonOnce again kraft super cheap. Patriots trying to find value at WR by dumpster diving

Biggest problem with patriots front office. When they miss out on a quality wide receiver, they simply settle for lesser talentMy guess the contract they offered Diggs, where he said think you for a lovely evening got forwarded to Lockets agent.
Why draft Drake Maye if we’re going to spend half his rookie contract not equipping him with weapons at WR or LT?This is something we're going to be saying a lot this season
I don't think Vrabel wants to go tits up in the division: and the Bills window is slowly closing. This is something we're going to be saying a lot this season
How in the world is it not? The Pats are the lowest spending team in the entire NFL for a decade, one of the worst reviewed franchises by players year after year and have the worst offensive roster in the entire NFL. How bad does it have to get before we are "allowed" to criticize ownership and the FO?How in gods name is any of this related to "Kraft is cheap" or "Wolf's vision"? Don't we all know by now it's VRABEL'S vision? How do we know Lockett is demanding significantly less money than his comparables?
Lackluster, Nelson Agholar would be more exciting.
If this is instead of pursuing a trade for Aiyuk or getting Diggs when healthy, I don't like it. If this is in addition to those, ok, sign me up.

The Bourne comparisons again glad he has no pictures of me. But has quite few of Patsfans who overrates him.I think Lockett is a retread duplicate of Bourne.
Why not draft Hawkins of Iowa state in the second round and start out fresh
