Remember the Duke lacrosse team? The media thought they we guilty.... until it turned out they weren't.

Saw that one coming from a mile away...

Never mind the drug allegations, as soon as dv was involved it was inevitable.

Pep man, this goes without saying, what the **** were you thinking... Rhetorical because he couldn't have been
Cocaine can cause impulsivity and reduced inhibition. It also disrupts activity in the pre-frontal cortex leading to impaired decision making. His pre-frontal cortex could not have been impressive to begin with, given that many of the choices that led him to this point were made while sober. Hopefully money and influence can get him out of it (it usually works well for the more minor stuff), and he will learn.

The Duke affair was a racially charged hit job by the media. This case does not have that favorite element of theirs, so all will go according to plan. Money will make the woman reluctant to testify or retract altogether. He'll plea to minor, reduced charges and be back with the Patriots next year (if not this year, if the case dissolves). Of course if BB were here, he'd be gone. We'll see what the Kraft's standards are nowadays.

From what I recall, the player (assuming he is under contract to a team) must agree to be placed on it. The tl;dr is that the player gives up the ability to practice and attend games, but in return they guarantee they get their salary.

It is not clear to me why he "won't be around" for a while, as the exempt list does not prohibit a player from attending meetings, seeing team doctors, or participating in workouts.

Julian Edelman was arrested in 2011 for sexual assault. At that point, he was just a ST guy, and could've been cut. And yet he wasn't.

If memory serves, the evidence was thin, Edelman strongly denied the allegations consistently right from the start, and the case evaporated shortly thereafter. I’m not saying that BB always cut people on arrest, but the Peppers case doesn’t appear to be similar to Edelman’s. It’s also true that BB might think Peppers so central to the team that’d he be slower to jettison him.

RK says he'll dump him if allegations are true. I think the little bit of coke powder added another layer to this case.

Peppers had a battered woman with her face smashed sitting on his front door and witnesses that heard a confrontation.

This was Edelman's case:
