PATS TRADE JAMIE COLLINS!!!

Well I'd rather have Hightower, Butler and Bennett if given the choice.. Amittedly the Chandler Jones trade doesn't look so hot right now, but we're half a season into Cyrus' career, so who knows.

You'd prefer one year of Chandler Jones over Joe Thuney and Malcolm Mitchell for four years?

Admittedly Jones appears to be the missing link that the Cardinals needed to get over the hump.

Are they at .500 yet?

The Pats used the pick from Chandler Jones on Thuney and Mitchell, not Cyrus Jones.

The thing that sucks is he can go anywhere next season

What team is going to pay what he is asking? Certainly not the smart organizations (successful ones). That only leaves the bad teams.

This makes no sense. There has to be more coming back to us.

Full disclosure .howe has had 1-1 access to collins and one some interviews with him so..

I am personally sad that BB upset the applecart in the middle of the season with this trade. We didnt need more drama. That being said, some of the reactions here like BB is the coach of the browns who havent won anything and dont know anything for the past 2 decades.

I don't think it's like that........I think the moment something like this happens, lots of guys are like 'hmmmm......so that why it's been that way for the last few weeks'

I am really not trying to defend this trade because it is incomplete until other shoe drops, but people have to remember the Pats only have $103 million or so committed to the 2017 cap and the estimated cap is upwards to $165 million. That means the Pats are going to be sitting on a ton of cap space. Exponentially more than any year in the Belichick era.

This could mean that Belichick may decide to be a major player in free agency. If he is, he knows the chances of getting anything for Collins in a compensatory pick is slim to none. So he decided to get at least a top of the fourth next year rather than nothing.

I don't love this trade, but it could make sense if Belichick is sitting on $40-50 million in cap space (after the sign and/or franchise some of their impending free agents) going into next year's free agency.

Sitting here waiting for Thomas or Haden news... likely not going to happen but then again nobody seen 91 getting traded coming.

I half hope he goes to denver just to see the meltdown on this board

I would rather have Josh Gordon fresh out of rehab instead of a 3rd round comp pick.

Collins was a playmaker, but wildly inconsistent.....he makes some astounding physical plays, but then get completely embarrassed by the owen danielses of the world

The only drama is on message boards.

You're owner didn't fire Bill Polian.......... remember that? yeah Ralph Wilson did that, he went and won a superbowl. Bills fans call that our superbowl, many of us wrote to Bill as such. New England let a guy looking for money go get it somewhere else after suffering the rest of season in cleveland. at least in cleveland collins can enjoy some kind of championships around him. there's worse places right now trust me. the rest of the team is looking at it like, "we're the infantry, he's the commander who's won a lot of wars, the guy who left didn't want to win the war"

F u c k, why Collins?

We could have kept Collins for the remainder of the season & let him sign with someone else & we would get a 3rd round comp pick.

All we get for losing Collins for the remainder of the season is a 3rd round comp pick in 2017 instead of 2018
Not necessarily. If the Pats had let Collins go but signed a big money player from another team, then they could cancel out and the Pats wouldn't get a comp pick.
