Player Signing Pats Sign RB to PS

IMO, USFL running and passing stats are all but irrelevant to success or even playing in the NFL.

We need a kick returner for 3 weeks while Vrabel finds a RB player who can also return kicks, or another KR to sign to the Practice

Give me some Chism: 21 yd KO return average over 30 returns. [edit: "in college"]

Brenden Schooler had more snaps on Defense [than Kyle Dugger]. What does that tell you??
Amazing. Someone needs to add a surprised cat face.

amaziing a player with NFL KR average that we keep inactive. oops.,

We will learn a lot about how Chism is valued this week. He clearly has COLLEGE experience in returning punts and kicks. Supposedly this was a key reason that we signed him.

Is Chism only for emergencies and on the roster as future potential? ditto for Jennings on the Practice Squad.

How many touchdowns?
Marcus Jones had 9 in college.
There is an easy way to make it less likely to make the playoffs.

Simply, have Marcus Jones play 100% of the reps on defense, be our punt returner and be our kick returner.

I think you are right but Vrabel does seem to move on from some existing players a little too quickly (see Jake Andrews).

I’m sure Larison was part of the preseason plan before injury.

And, we had 3 good RBs on the roster with Rham/Gib/Henderson.

You really think other teams have a quality 4th RB just sitting on their roster or PS?

I don’t think we failed to plan, but **** happens!

Good point, I hadn't factored Larison into my thinking because we saw so little of him, so thanks for pointing that out.

The thing I've read is that Henderson wasn't a bell-cow RB because he was thought to not be durable. Of course the team knows better than we do about how many snaps they think they can play him, so we'll see how they manage the situation going forward.

Under the new format, Springer says they want a solid RB returning kicks. It’s more like a deep hand off than a punt return.

I was hoping for Chism with his 30 college returns and a 21-yd avg; but if Springer set on a RB/heavier frame guy.....

Lookeee who we just added to PS and can elevate for Sunday: 24 KO returns, 25 yd avg, 1 KO R for TD.

Per Patriots.com he also has:

Corbin played for the San Antonio Brahmas of the UFL in 2025 and led the league in rushing yards with 514 yards on 97 carries with 4 touchdowns and 18 receptions for 138 yards. He also gained 252 yards as a kick returner.[/quote]

At this point , anybody can be better than Rham. He is just playing role of blocking pass catcher. I thought Henderson would be that , but Henderson is so behind the blocking that he and rham are probably just redundant .

They had 3 players who were very similar. Rham , Henderson and Gibson. Rham was supposed to be the bell cow , but sadly his fumbles mean he is one the worst RBs now who has value just as a blocker and one who can catch screens . But playing him in that role will take snaps away from Henderson.

If we had a pass catching fullback like jusczyk, rham can be expended with .

At this point get a RB who can get 3 yards without a fumble.

144 yards after 5 games is atrocious. Baker Mayfield has more yards than Rham.

Luckily for the Pats, RB is not highly valued in the the NFL. They should be able to draft an adequate replacement for Rhamandre next year in rounds 3-5.

I would have looked at Patterson since he's played for Josh (successfully) in the past and he was still producing last year at a decent level behind a mediocre line in Pittsburgh and he was still doing Kick returns..

Zack moss followed by JJ taylor

Vrabel claims the team "needs Rhamondre's talent." The Pats are (as I recall) the 27th best running team. How valuable, really, is the lead back on theleague's 27th best running team? On this matter, on the subject of Rhamondre generally, Vrabel is full of ****.
