if you steal one, he has to occupy a slot in 53 for at least 3 weeks.
I don't think that is correct.

You have to pay them for a minimum of 3 weeks, but can release them anytime......I believe.

When claiming a player from another team's practice squad, the player must be added to the 53-man active roster and is guaranteed a minimum of three weeks' pay, even if they are released earlier. The team can't sign the player directly to their own practice squad, and there are restrictions on poaching players from a team they are scheduled to play soon.

  • Active roster requirement:
The player must be signed directly to the 53-man active roster, not to another practice squad.

  • Guaranteed pay:
The player is guaranteed a minimum of three weeks' pay, based on the league minimum salary, even if released before the three weeks are up.

I can't believe that there isn't at least one really good player out there.
There is. However, it is very unlikely that we would choose one that is worth being on the roster. Who is better than Jennings? And why, other than personal opinion, do you thinks so?

Thx for technical correction.

Still is picking blind & even blocking a 53 for one week may not be what they want. Their own ps guys can get real game tryouts til they prove themselves, prove not to be answe, or make a rep & are a danger to get poached.

Bird In Hand is worth two in the bush.

I am not sure on the rules of retention of veterans on practice squad. I believe they cannot be claimed onto active 53.

If that's the case , then it's best to just trust the ones who have run with our scout teams and the 1s and 2s.

I only knew that because it came up in TC in another discussion, and I googled it then.
I guess even an old dog can learn new tricks, me being the old dog, not you

Just for shts and giggles I went to Ourlads and took a look at RB's on other teams practice squads... it's pretty bleak.

But looking at mostly rookies there:

Ja'Quinden Jackson from Jacksonville is the only big bruiser there with decent athleticism.
Donavan Edwards from Washington isn't particularly big but is fast and athletic.
Amar Johnson from the Chargers is tiny but athletic.

Nothing amazing, if I had to choose Ja'Quinden Jackson looks similar to LeGarrette Blount. 6'1" 236 lbs, decent athleticism, was a grinder in the SEC. The Pats need an early down guy more than a third down back. Not sure any of these guys are worth adding.
