Why I hope they sign Damien Martinez.

Henderson can't run between the tackles ...yet.

Stevenson can but it's heart in mouth time every time he does.

Damien Martinez fills those gaps.

He's not fast, he doesn't break tackles. I don't get the fascination, but it's not like there are a lot of better options out there, I suppose.

The trade for Kamara stuff...there's actual smoke out there now. (And not just the usual Patsfans huffing copium)

He absolutely does break tackles. Only two of the RBs drafted last year (Jeanty and Tuten) beat him in yards after contact per rush last year. That's ahead of Jeremiyah Love. And 4.51 is fast enough. It puts him on par with Quinshon Judkins.

Edit - Martinez ranked 8th amongst drafted RBs in 2024 with 26 (ahead of Judkins). So yes, he does indeed break tackles

The only way he's ever run 4.51 in a game is if he got a 5-yard head start.
I watched every Miami snap last year. I've regularly pimped Miami guys that I wanted to see on the Patriots. There are two I didn't. Xavier Restrepo (Makes Chism look like Usain Bolt) and Damien Martinez.

Martinez was the lead back the first four games of the year, after that he lost his starting job to a freshman...who is not currently starting.

Martinez' college numbers last year were inflated thanks to running behind the best offensive line in the country, and lots of zone coverage thanks to Cam Ward at QB.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I liked him much more than you did.

So RB Terrell Jennings get's the elevation??

I absolutely want the team to sign Martinez. Go with Martinez and Henderson when Rham starts fumbling again.

When examining Martinez, one positive aspect was his ball security. He had only three career fumbles on over 546 touches from scrimmage in college

One of my kids graduated from Miami so I follow them somewhat closely. Martinez had plenty of decent runs and a better than six yard average. I also live in Ohio and saw plenty of Henderson. With Henderson you will see some no gain carries, with Martinez not so much. I think they do compliment each other fairly well.

He was my draft binkie because of his size until I watched film on him. Seemed like a pretty average college player. with not much burst, not tough to bring down. Can’t really pass block well. There aren’t a lot of good choices out there. I think I’d elevate Jennings until I could do a pick swap for someone better.

Fair enough. We saw different players. Is he RB1? No. Is he a good Rhamondre replacement? Hell yes!

I'm sold manman: so did we sign him??

That’s very fair, but he’s no kick returner which is a deal breaker for me (with that player in this particular situation).

I agree he's not a KR but I'm not sure why it has to be a RB doing that job.

The patriots need better then "ok" which is what Corbin might be. They need another RB if they are getting average and below talent.
