Nice signing, a great complimentary edge piece. our defense is set! Now find Drake some playmakers

And a Insurance Offensive Tackle just in case: Lowe is not the answer.

Draft a LT in round 2 or make a FA splash and we’ll be fine
Might be Tough To find one in Round Two after the Run on them Ray.

Simmons

Banks

I would take Simmons if he falls out the First Round due to the injury.

The guy is helpless against the run. First round bust. Wise was better and would have rather they keep Wise.
Seems like they are all over the place with no rhyme or reason
As skinny as Tyquan Thornton and as bad against the run as Uche
The objective is havoc in the backfield for Josh Allen and Tua Tagaivaloa. Chaisson's quickness is the asset here. I loved Dietrich Wise as well but at 270 lbs and 30 years-old he's not as good a fit for chasing mobile QBs.

I love how this defense is built ro put pressure on qbs and take full advantage of the CBs and thumpers Dugger and Peppers. Last season the Patriots relied way too much on the secondary to get after the passers. This group can generate pressure up front while the CBs focus on coverage which can lead to more sacks and turnovers.

Flawed first-round picks provide the greatest possible upside from coaching. Figure out exactly what the guy is good at, and also what he's bad at, and put him in the best position to succeed. He was on a clear upswing last year, so likely all the physical talents are still there. And he's still young.

Film of him against Kansas - a bad first rep (jumped the snap) but the rest is encouraging:

Not sure if posted, but looks like base value will be closer to $3M than the report of $5M deal without context.

Happy to have the player, but I'd like to have seen them, if possible, stretch this to a 2 year deal. Let's say he comes in and has a 2022 Josh Uche type of season where he racks up 11.5 sacks even though he's a limited, situational player who does nothing else. I don't think that's outlandish. Presumably that means you maxed out his incentives at $5M. So you pay him $5M and he hits FA off a good year and you have to compete with the market to keep him.

Could you have maybe gotten him for a 2 year, $16M deal $12M guaranteed and chance to earn an extra $2M in incentives each year for $20M total? Give him an $8M signing bonus and a $2M guaranteed salary this year with $2M more in incentives. Next year it's a $6M base salary with $2M of it guaranteed and chance to earn an extra $2M in incentives. Now if he has a great year, he's still under contract for what would be a below market deal so he's incentivized to extend with you and since the alternative to not signing is playing out that year you can usually get somewhat of a discount. The downside obviously is that he sucks and now instead of paying him the $3M on this current deal you still have to pay him $12M over 2 years if you cut bait. So it costs you an extra $7M spread over 2 years to buy that upside.

If they're going to keep preserving cap space, I think taking some bigger upside swings like that would make sense with young players like this vs 1 year deals. And obviously the player has to agree to it, so not necessarily saying they're wrong for this deal, just a suggestion for how they can maybe try to leverage some of the lower risk high reward signings into a multi year reward by taking on some incremental risk, just that way we aren't sitting here next year with all of the same needs if they stick to 1 year deals even if the guys pan out.

Alright so it's obvious the Raiders made a mistake. IF he can get to Mahomes he can definitely get to Josh Allen.

Imagine Third Downs with Landry - Williams and Chaisson coming for you. IF Christian Barmore get's the Green light health wise: with Vrabel's attacking style D good luck opposing QB's. We could have the second coming of the Steel Curtain on D. Top 5 Defense with Barmore Top 10 without.

Can always offer him an extension part way through the season if you like what you see. Provide him some security against an injury.

We still can't pass up one in this Deep Edge Rushing Class: the more the merrier.

He's already better than Uche - who the Eagles just signed for whatever reason.

Part of the depth equation. But, certainly not good news for Jennings, and Ximines is out for sure.

If Simmons falls out of the first round due to injury, and he's somehow there at 38, and they DON'T draft him, I'll be right there with @captain stone reminding the Patriots they should have drafted him in every game thread for the next 10 years.

Simmons is right there with Banks, Membou and Conerly as LT prospects, for me.

Keion White says what about me?

I’d like to see that, earlier rather than later. By mid season he might be think8ng his bet on himself paid off and it's time to test the market. If he’s looking good in the first month offer him a two year extension and sign the beast!

maybe Wolf is playing madden trying to rebuild the 2024 raiders
