Patriots signed LB Ricky Brown, formerly of the Raiders.
Brown has made 13 career starts after entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2006, but his role will most likely be on special teams if he's able to make the roster in New England. It's not outside the realm of possibility that he could see some snaps at linebacker, however.

This is something BB does that I think gets overlooked. He brings in a TON of special teams guys, many who do not make it. He certainly values sts a lot, and I would believe there is nothing that comes close to being able to watch a special teams only guy on the practice field to know what you've got. Film is great, but having the guy on your practice field tells you even more.

more fodder.....

Like his pedigree, like his script.. but not sure if he will crack this roster. If he does then it becomes a great story.

Re: Pats sign Ricky Brown

Belichick wants lots of special teamers to potentially choose from as he makes his last roster choices. For exxample, we could easily include 2 LB ST specialists if Fletcher or Spikes is put on IR.

Is this the fusion form of Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown? Our RB stable just got nasty.

Re: Pats sign Ricky Brown

Simple. Pats have 90 roster spots, 89 of which are occupied. Pats are thinnest at LB. Pats sign Guy who can play LB.

But you do love the "UDFA that makes good on a Pats roster" story, too... don't ya!
I don't know him from Elvis, so really cannot comment on his abilities.
However, I'm always intrigued by signings of any sort. Commencing video.google.com in 3... 2... 1...

Found nothing. Not even college highlights. Had to go to nfl.com for anything at all on him (one still shot, that is all).
Guy must be a real zero.

I think it's worth bringing in a S/Ter who can play late in the game and not affect the team when some loser team head-butts him (instead of Woodhead).
