Looks like John Wensink beating on somebody from the Canadiens... Damn shame he couldn't beat them in the POs too, especially in 1979.
John Wensink Gilles Lupien in the playoffs 1978. Same fight where Jonathan bloodied up Pierre Bouchard. The Bruins line that shift, O'Reilly, Jonathan, Wensink.

That looks a bit like Rick Smith.

Listen, all those guys on that Bruins team were big, tough guys, and never shied from a fight,

Carol Vadnais was a very good defenseman. They gave up a lot to get him (Freddie O'Donnell and Reggie Leach) but he was worth it. As I recall, he had a tiff with Mike Walton that caused a split in the team. Walton was fast, but they gave up too much for him (Rick MacLeish).

Gawd, how I miss that team!

Upon reflection, yeah, maybe that was Wensink...

The tiff was with Sanderson....
Leach, Rick Smith and Bob Stewart for Vadnais and Don O'Donoghue.
O'Donnell(one of my favorites) got traded along with Chris Oddleifson and Shaky Walton's rights for Bobby Schmautz.
I liked Walton but you are right, giving up MacLeish for him was too much.

Harry picked up Schmautzie from the Canucks after Derek jumped the team, and got suspended. Turk never played for us again.

Derek borrowed some cash from Espie so he could fly to Hawaii from the West Coast trip instead of going home.

Coach Bep Guidolin: "Why'd you lend him the money?!"

Phil: "He's my friend."

Sinden realized later that he blew it keeping Guidolin, who was a minor league coach with zero understanding of the pro game and especially the Bruins' players. Sanderson was having some personal problems but he just couldn't stand Bep and couldn't take it anymore. Despite his drug problems Derek still played well for the Rangers.

As for Guidolin he threw Esposito under the bus in the playoffs despite the fact that the league MVP was the reason the Bruins were there at all; the absence of Cheevers & McKenzie was devastating. The Bruins were badly out coached in the finals, and Guidolin then went to the KC Scouts for a year before disappearing from the league.

A bunch of stars who who made up that Cup Flyers team were young Bruins castoffs.

Like a **** load of them, MacLeish, Leach, Parent, Favell, Dornhoefer, Watson, Lonsberry, Ashbee, Crisp

Yep… The Shaky Walton - Rick MacLeish trade was totally ****ing stupid, and also would’ve been completely unnecessary if they had just kept a couple of their good young forwards instead of carelessly losing them in the 1967 expansion draft or giving them away for draft picks that all busted, plus other useless junk…

It was either Gerry Cheevers or Bernie Parent in that expansion draft so I can’t blame them there, although they did help facilitate the Parent back to Philly trade via the Walton trade… What was truly Unforgivable was protecting old, over-rated Eddie Johnston instead of Doug Favell after Parent was taken... I'll never, EVER forgive that decrepit ****ing stiff for Game ****ing 2.

RW Gary Dornhoefer (as well as LW JP Parise by Oakland) could’ve easily been pulled from the unprotected list before the Flyers had a chance to draft him - especially when one considers whom the Bruins d-i-d pull from their list ahead of them; and later trading both LW Ross Lonsberry (to LA, with Eddie Shack) & RW Jean Pronovost (to ****tsdirt, with young defenceman John Arbour) in separate deals was also tragically ****ing short-sighted; and both were made under a false ass-umption: that there were prospects available with the picks received for them who were worth drafting and whom the team could develop…

Milt Schmidt decided that protecting Dallas Smith was more important than protecting Joe Watson… meh, a wash more or less.

Fellow defenceman Barry Ashbee missed the entire 1966-67 season after finally cracking (no pun intended) the B's lineup for some games the previous season, from back surgery I believe; he never made it to Boston again before landing in Philadelphia in 1970.

And yes I agree that the Carol Vadnais - Reggie Leach trade was the right thing to do then; gotta give some to get some sometimes, and our back line needed another all-star-calibre presence besides Orr & soon-to-be 32 year-old Ted Green, who left after the season for the WHA.

Yeah Bobby was personal friends with them, as they came up together

Terry Crisp himself was also from Parry Sound.

Hmmm, I watched some highlights. You are going to kill me, but he sort of reminds me of Tedy Bruschi. Looks like Bruschi, hits like Bruschi, and even wore number 54. Bizarre. Hope he makes the cut....
I watched Tedy Bruschi, I knew Tedy Bruschi, Tedy Bruschi was a favorite of mine. ***ot, you are no Tedy Bruschi.

This thread reminds me of a story my dad (God rest his soul) told me, which happened when I was little.

We were attending a Congregational church at the time, and during summer, we'd have guest ministers preside when our regular minister was on vacation.

That happened... and my dad had to introduce the visiting pastor to the congregation... "so please give a nice welcome...

...to Reverend ****haut."

I’m sorry. I see something there. A resemblance. And it’s not just ole number 54.
You must be old.

I started my posting career as an AOLe and I remember an Arizona fan coming to that forum when Bruschi was drafted and telling us that we didn't know how great of a player he was. That man was spot on. We didn't know but we sure found out.

Chris Berman, upon hearing whom the Patriots selected at #86, 10 picks before the end of a very long Day 1: I think we'll be having a few in about an hour... Classic.
