I doubt any of those UFAs get signed before free agency. They’ll probably let them all hit the market and see what’s out there. I don’t even know how many they want to keep anyway. Perhaps Ekuale, Wise.
I'd let both walk.

I echo the camp body sentiment. Maybe one of them improves under better coaching but this doesn't stop us from still getting more.

Andrews is C1 and Strange C2 anyways.

I will 100% be done with defensive oriented head coaches if our oline shows little to no improvement this year. I see no point in even letting Jacobs compete at this point.

and then on the remaining 9 free agent (UFA's)
Brissett
Wtf, why?

Didn't you see enough this year? Gotta do a nancy on this guy...

This is what I want to see. Pay as little as possible for depth right now. Use their $$ to get as many really good players as they can on this roster. Do that for a couple of years, then pay more attention to depth. Use the back 25 players on the roster to develop young low cost players, and most of their $$$ on really good players.

Solid signings. Brown gives us insurance if Dave Andrews retires or Cole Strange gets hurt again. Jacobs has actual starts under his belt at tackle....

We need depth so we can go after top end talent.

In perfect circumstances yeah, definitely. But I won’t cry if Jacobs is the 53rd player as a 3rd string swing tackle. Optimistically they sign a better swing tackle and he is just a camp body with experience.
I would hope they could land someone better than the worst T in the league.

Ekuale only has value IMO as a sub rusher if he drops back down to the lower weight he used to play at.
If he is in the DT rotation we are in trouble.
I think that Wise’s best role, basically a 3-4 DE as a guy who is too small to play 4-3 DT and lacks the skills of a 4-3 DE won’t really fit the new scheme.
He is still a capable player who could fill a depth and situational role, but the price would have to be right.

Are we really *****ing about someone that is signed for less than a milly? At some point we need 90 players, what is the harm of giving him some petty cash to come and try and win a job? If he does win a job great for him and it means he improved and if he doesn't then no harm.

I agree that the UFA's will be allowed to see what they are worth in 3-day period before the season starts.

I would not be surprised to see a couple make agreements on the last day before the season starts. Hooper and Jones are my primary candidates. I expect that we will make the call to Ertz and then make a very good offer to Hooper.

Curiously, I could see Ximinez signed if Vrabel thinks that he could fit in. This would be a low-cost opportunity.

I'm OK with Brown as a backup. Jacobs isn't physical... a damning trait for a lineman. Hopefully, Jacobs is a camp cut.

I like the Demontrey Jacobs signing, he’s only 24 years old and has some great tools to work with. He needs better coaching, strength, and has to learn how to play with his feet not his hands.

Ben Brown is a jag and they’re loaded at interior offensive line, seems like wasted money.

This is interesting - because I liked Brown's style, and thought he showed a lot coming in the situation last year.
And, I was higher on Jacobs early in the season to get reps at OT - although he totally let me down.
But, these 2 guys likely have better talent than they were able to show in a sh*tshow season.
I'm not mad that they'll get a chance to prove if they can contribute - as backups.

These are depth signings is all and glad to see them on the ball getting things done NOW. Don’t worry, we already have our starters on the team! /s NOT!

They're both signed to ERFA contracts, so in all likelihood the total guaranteed money is ~$0.

I get it. It does cost anything but a weekly check. Can you do better is my question.

we resigned two scrubs. i doubt they make the 53, if they do our OL is in big trouble!

I don't expect either to make the 53.

However, I don't think that we are "in big trouble" if one of these is our #10 OL.

Yeah, they should be able to, but there's nothing wrong with them being camp bodies/placeholders for better players.

A 90-man roster just ain't gonna have 90 Pro Bowlers.
