Pats probably will need to play BOTH Pitt and KC in playoffs

Root for Denver & KC next week. Even if the Pats lose, that would set-up New England to play the winner of the Houston/Oakland game, assuming Miami losses to Pit. This would be about as easy a match-up as the Pats have ever had in round 2, while Pit & KC battle it out for the right to come to NE.

I'd happily take Miami in round 2, if it meant Pittsburgh is out.

In order to win the #2 seed, the Chiefs need to clinch their division. 2 things need to happen first:

1. KC has to beat the Chargers @ home
2. OAK has to lose the Broncos @Denver

I think there's a good chance that Oakland (without Carr) loses to an angry, pissed off Broncos team

Chargers lost to the Browns this past Sunday.... I'd be surprised if they find a way to spoil the Chiefs

I've been monitoring this... it sucks. but it's pretty reasonable to expect that the broncos could beat the raiders and the chiefs could be the chargers and then we'd be playing a garbage QB in the divisional round

I believe Denver will beat Oakland. I can't see McGloin going into Denver and beating that defense, especially after the Broncos were embarrassed last night. They will be playing to win.

I don't trust the donkey's to do anything. They need to bench semen and put lynch in.

otoh, denver doesnt have anything to play for

We can't play Pitt until AFCCG no matter what.
I will stay out of this... seems like every time I root for another team to win to help the Pats, they lose.
It's now big deal as long as we are at home. This will be like 2004, we are playing three tough teams if we want the championship. I do think we are going to draw the TWO toughest AFC opponents this time. (Unless some real unexpected stuff happens.)

IF KC can get the division this changes as we cannot face BOTH KC and Pitt, just one of them, if KC gets the 2 seed.

I agree. I think this is a strong possibility, and it DOES help the Pats quite a lot. It would garantee that Miami/Houston/Oakland are our divisional match up. That would be HUGE and we all should root for it to happen this way.

I don't think Pitt's a lock to beat Miami or on the offhand chance KC either.
I don't think KC ends up as the 6th seed, which is the only way they play Pitt, unless somebody knocks us off and then it dont matter.

Just let the chips fall where they fall. You'll catch migraines thinking about all of different scenarios in the playoffs

Consider this scenario:
Pats win at Miami
Denver beats Oakland
KC beats Chargers

Then Houston beats Oakland in Round 1
Chiefs beat Steelers in round 2

All of those seem very reasonable (my guess is all those games would have the favorite winning except maybe Chiefs beating Steelers).

That means the Pats playoff path in the AFC would be home for Houston, home for KC.

As I said in another thread, people would still be complaining that we haven't beaten anyone good right up until the Super Bowl.

The Broncos want to give their fans at least this win at home. So they still have something to play for.

I think having a year where the Broncos and Ravens are out of the playoffs is rare...and I am so thankful for it.
Asking for more bad things for other teams would seem downright sadistic.

I think Denver has mailed it in. Oakland gets the sweep.

it's part of the fun for me. I have followed Boston sports 45 years since I was 5, but after Super Bowl 42 I have learned to not have any stress over the wins and losses and still enjoy it all very much. (probably helped some by all the multiple championships!)
