Pats not trading Garoppolo - Schefter

I don't remember any neck injury after his record setting season with the Broncos. It was more the cumulative effect of not taking care of his body, arm strength fading and suffering a couple of minor injuries that started to add up.

You can't really exclude the second part of 2012 and the entire 2013 where he played good-to-great just to connect everything back to the neck injury.

11/23/2014 was when he simply broke and could no longer make a consistent throw > 15 yards in the air....one day it just went

yes it wasn't the moment due to injury, but his neck problems caused him to lose feeling in his hand and left him without any throwing strength to speak of

Manning is on record stating that he never regained some feeling in his finger tips. He just continued to degenerate over time and wasn't able to work out like he needed to in order to maintain strength in his throwing arm.

Just to be sure.. that was my original point. That none of this just happens from one day to the other but that it is a process - unless something disruptive like an injury happens.

Not sure what we are discussing exactly right now..

If the Pats are comfortable with Brissett as the backup and potentially the QB of the future, you take Cleveland's 12th pick (if they are offering it) and run.

that's a massive 'if'

what does the #12 get you? how much better is this team with it?

Right but based on what we've seen from Brissett, I don't know how anyone can be comfortable with him as your backup.

As the Pats are currently constituted, the only thing that could keep them from contending for next years title would be having to turn the offense over to Brissett, due to an injury to Brady. If they keep JG next year, they could win the title even if Brady gets hurt.

I know everyone thinks this is an affront to Brady, but I don't see a QB under 30 that is as good as Jimmy and I wouldn't let him go at any cost. You have to recognize that JG positions us for another 10 year run of consistent title contention.

except that one day manning was having 300/400 yard games and the next day he wasn't

and next year is not can't miss for Brady either
Wait. So you think Brady after 3 years was worse than a guy who threw less than 100 NFL passes sorry make that the other guy was twice the QB and now brady who just carried his team to a title and was the best player in the NFL this year isn't a sure fire star in 2017?
Please tell me you had a few bottles of tequila for breakfast

You are making huge leaps of faith by claiming Garrapolo will be better than Brady in a year or two. And making a decision to move on from Brady when he is the best player in football is nothing short of batsh.t crazy. Once again you are just employing the Max Kellerman "Brady is going to fall off a cliff " theory, which has zero evidence to back it up. The exact same argument has been made for years and years and Brady has shown no sign of deterioration , and has in fact been getting better. Yet you guys just keep moving the goalposts back year by year. It's no different than Borges, Felger, Mazzerrotti, CHB, Rob Parker etc etc etc...... who promise the end is near and deny the fact that they are serially wrong about everything.

Let's see the evidence that Brady is deteriorating? Not one of you can produce even a shred of it yet you continue to make the same baseless claims with absolute certitude. It's idiocy at its highest level.

Look, the likelihood of Brady falling off the "cliff" is high. It is just when does that cliff pop up? There is plenty of evidence that shows players get older and just do not recover from injuries or exertion very well. Brady just is going to get banged up and not be able to come back from it...that is a fact.

For example, I am in ridiculously good shape, I am also 40 years old. I suffered a running injury last spring that I ignored all summer. I am now addressing that injury through physical therapy......this is a 4-8 week recovery time....I am now in my 5th month of physical therapy....Now, certainly Brady is a much better athlete than I am...but you cannot outrun father time...he always wins in the end.

That being said, i am 100% for trading Jimmy G. and riding this Brady thing until he cannot play anymore.

You are talking about what it looked like externally to us.

If he knew that his situation was degenerating then that's exactly my point. Doesn't matter if it yet showed or not during game days, there is no way Manning could ******** his way through camp and practice without anyone noticing.

yes......Garoppolo is a more developed QB now than Brady was in 2002

and the fact that denver had nothing else to put out there.......they had to play him......you don't bench a guy like that given the massive contract he had....the situation forced the broncos to play him

and no......one day he was throwing 40-50 times a game and the next he was throwing 20

scheme change? for injury likely

Once again the absolute certainty that Garrapolo is a franchise QB. At what point do you guys ever understand that is just your imagination and not based in fact? Brady, on the other hand, has shown that he's flat out the greatest player in football history, as well as the best player in football right now. Believe whatever you want but stop trying to pretend it's fact.

The "cliff" bullsh.t is just that, bullsh.t. There is nothing in Brady's game to support it, and using players like Favre and Manning, who didn't anywhere near the kind of care Brady takes of himself, as examples is also complete crap.

Keep betting on Max Kellerman, I'll keep betting on Brady.

He is going to get banged up and the recovery time will be too long or too much. Bank on it.

Oh, and I don't have cable so have no idea who the faulk you are talking about.

Disagree 100% on the first, agree on the second except Brady won't play until he sucks.

You must not have internet access as well because Kellerman has been brought up in this forum all season long.

And you can " bank" on whatever you want, I'll continue to bank on Brady.

lol, I already stated that I want Brady for as long as he is able to play. WTF?

I'll take that bet.......oh but you're not a betting man......which is why your 'million to one' is completely meaningless

an injury is what permanently disables a 40 year old QB

Garoppolo could wind up being better than Brady and last as long as Brady......that's exactly what he showed in his time on the field

what this comes down to is you simply believing that you want to believe....otherwise, you would make that bet to get that guaranteed dollar

Any Vegas man would bet you with those odds. It is a no brained to bet that Brady can be elite for at least one year over a QB who has six quarters of real starting experience (and he only has six quarters because he got injured six quarters into his starting career) being at least an above average QB for a decade.

.

You mean like when Chancellor destroyed Brady's thigh this season and he didn't miss a down? Garrapolo, on the other hand, lasted 5 1/2 quarters and wasn't able to go when they expected him to go in the 4th game,?and Brissett had to o play when he should have been on IR.
