Pats not trading Garoppolo - Schefter

This sounds more like a one year rental type move with backup possibilities. Are they waiting for next years draft? IOW, I'm not sure this rules out JG. Plus I wonder if Glennon wants this.

the bears ain't paying glennon 14 million to be a "rental."

"Brady is great?" You say it so easily and so lightly as if it holds no weight or meaning. Pretty pathetic

What you "seek" ain't happening so you might as well settle for "great."
Poor Poor lil Draftnik. You don't get to play Junior GM. The adults BB and Kraft are running the show, not you.

The Patriots are going to have their price and teams can either meet it or they will hang on to Garrapolo. I don't want second round picks for him, I would rather they hold fast and keep him if need be.

The person playing "jr. gm" is you. Brady is the best player in football and you want to get rid of him to test out your binky, it doesn't get more "jr.. gm" than that.

Cleveland should draft Myles Garrett with the #1 pick. Then they should trade the #12 pick, plus a 2018 2nd and a 2019 2nd to acquire JG from the Patriots. JG is by far the best QB option out there if we're talking about building a team (and not going for a one or two year run, in which case you'd likely prefer Romo as a FA). In one draft they could add a generational defensive talent *and* a franchise QB, all while simply dealing one draft pick this year and future picks that have less value down the road.

For the Patriots, with the #12 pick they can add an impact player or trade that pick away for a lower first rounder and maybe a second or third rounder as well. BB does very well with those kinds of trades. And Cleveland won't be great for a few years, so those 2018 and 2019 second rounders would come in very handy.

Makes too much sense, never happen.

Interesting post. My initial reaction was that Cleveland wouldnt give up the 2 2nd rounders in addition to the #12, but that was presuming they would still suck as bad as they did this season, so the picks would be #32-#40. However the point of getting Garrapolo is to become a winning team now, so if Garrapolo succeeded in turning the Browns around they 2nd round picks should be more like the # 47 in 2018 and lower than #50 in 2019. In this case asking for the two seconds makes more sense, even as a bargaining position.

I'd be happy with #12 and one future 2nd round pick in 2018.

The latest from Mary Kay Cabot:

Browns buzz: Myles Garrett at No. 1 and Jimmy Garoppolo with No. 12 would be their dream scenario

1. Myles Garrett and Jimmy Garoppolo would be their dream scenario.

....

Despite a report by ESPN that the Patriots won't trade Jimmy Garoppolo, I'm told that nothing has changed and that teams -- including the Browns -- will still try to land him.

One source told me he believes it might take as much as a No. 1 this year and No. 1 next year -- which I'm sure the Browns won't be willing to do.

But if New England will accept their No. 12 overall pick and maybe another later selection, I think the Browns would strongly consider that.

Give me #12 and I want McCaffrey. He won't last until #32.

Number 12 and number 1 in 2018

I've been saying this all along........too many here are setting the bar way too low for ROI on JG

dude's worth it

who gives a **** if it was only 6 quarters.......in those 6 quarters he moved the team like the GOAT and showed NOTHING negative and don't give me that Carson Wentz ********....utter nonsense......JG looked like an all pro in the mcdaniel offense.....he is worth all that

screw it....my asking price just went up

I don't understand why the browns wouldn't give up another first rounder in 2018. We asking for two first round picks. They have to chance to get garrett and jimmy and still have multiple picks in the second round to go with a ton of cap space.

If they don't wanna give us another future first rounder then i might take their second and 3rd round pick in this draft. Pats can load up with some players.

JG is a risk. He's played 5 quarters. I think he's a good QB and has value, but if you are the Browns, maybe not. You are only guaranteed to get JG for one year. If he leaves or, over the course of 16 games, is not as impressive as expected, you now have traded two firsts for a later 3 and a year of JG. Not much of a deal for a rebuilding team.

If the Browns draft a QB, they get him for 5 years, a lot more time to develop with their rebuilding team.
