Re: Stallworth signs with NE?

27 is srill VERY young...NOT at all bad...

Re: Stallworth signs with NE?

damn, this is pretty crazy

Stallworth is pretty young, only 24 years old tops, and with Rosenhaus as his agent I don't believe that there is any way the Pats sign him without at least seeing what other teams have to offer.

If this deal gets done, I would look for it to get done after at least three days when he is done meeting with other teams (the Titans and Broncos I think).

I believe it's Tennessee and Miami...but I could be wrong!

Re: Stallworth signs with NE?

I heard he took a dump tonight from eating too much chili....

Re: Patsf sign Stallworth

Nothing wrong with going to the highest bidder, but be upfront. Don't say you want to play for this team or that team, and then turn down a competitive offer.

I agree with you on most points, but you have to remember that he also said he was going to visit Tennessee and Miami. In that sense, what he's doing is sticking to his plan--a plan that he had made public and everybody who's listening already knew about, except those who got too spoiled by AD's classy move or too blinded by the possibility of having a done deal yesterday.

Bottom line: The man had said he was going to Tenn and Miami before making a decision. He's sticking to that.

The blame here goes to either Drew Rosenhaus or Comcast. The Comcast report didn't say they got their information from "the office of Donte Stallworth." They specifically said they had confirmation from the office of Drew Rosenhaus, so obviously somebody lied on one end or the other. This thread would have been finished halfway through and all rumors squashed if not for that report.

Re: Patsf sign Stallworth

My only thought about this... The report out there was a long term deal, and it suppose to have come from his agents office.. Now suppose the Pats never really offered that, and its just a way for him to get that deal from Tenn or Miami.... If that is the case, then he could go to the highest bidder then..

I know you guys will call me stupid.

I really would prefer getting Randy Moss than Stallworth, if we have a choice.

If the leak came from Rosenhaus' end then I would imagine the Pats aren't going to be very pleased. And we all know the Pats aren't likely to get in a bidding war over anybody.

rosenhaus playing games

my take on this is the patriots probably ofered stallworth a short term deal, rosenhaus then leaks out the long term deal, comcast said they talked to his office, floating the numbers for the titans and phins, according to riess the pats are probably interested in a short term deal, if someone gives him the longterm i think hes gone and we move on

Re: rosenhaus playing games

If you can't turst Drew Rosenhaus, who can you trust?

No - that was my take as well - that only a fool would believe it was a bonifide 6 year $32 million offer.

Maybe he's added in a "fake" year like the Nate Clements 8 year $80 million deal, where the 8th year is null after the 2nd year - might as well have made the 10th year worth $800 million.

I completely agree with you. This sounds like Rosenhaus just using the Pats as leverage for other teams. Make it sound like there's a big offer on the table and the Pats are on the verge of signing him to try to get Titans or Dolphins to make a panic offer.

Re: rosenhaus playing games

So much for Stallworth wanting to come here badly - because he wanted to play for a "winner". Or the willingness to take a short term deal to prove himself.

I honestly can say that I am relieved - I wanted no part of Stallworth.

Re: rosenhaus playing games

Well, I think the reports on Stallworth were that he was willing to take a one year deal to try to prove himself for big money next year. If he can get big money this year, why should he settle or wait? I don't begrudge that.

Unfortunately, the year was just wrong for this sort of deal. Given the crazy money that is out there and the extra cap room from the new ceiling, the timing is just bad. If Stallworth doesn't need to wait because of that, so be it.

Re: rosenhaus playing games

Please post any media report which stated the structure of the $32M offer. As always, we should wait until the final deal is posted before we indicate how ridiculaous the deal is. It is indeed quite possible that part of such an offer include a Year 5 bonus of say $10M, or very high salaries for the last two years. Such cpmtract conditions are common.

An interesting note on the Dale and Holley Show today: Brady met with Welker when he was here but left a day before Stallworth dropped in. The speculation was whether meeting with Brady might've helped seal a deal. If Stallworth/Rosenhaus intended all along to use the Pats' offer as leverage probably not, but it certainly would not have hurt for Tommy to chime in as part of the team's pitch.

.
So what does your post mean? Has he signed with another team?

I honestly can say that I am relieved - I wanted no part of Stallworth sounds pretty final.

The Pats should take their offer off the table and tell them both to go to hell. Why should our team waste time waiting around on this guy to decide where he wants to go?

Tom and Gisele had plane tickets for Italy, or was it Greece? But hey, you're only going this way once.

That is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. It's called shopping for the best deal. Everybody does it. I'm sure you do.
