The outcomes of the last 5 post seasons speak for themselves.
The Jets and Ravens have figured it out. The Giants definitely have. Furthermore, Terrance Knighton was on Sirius radio and stated that he knew how Mankins would block on certain plays.
Face it, even the best scheme gets figured out after so long. It happens to every offense and defense.
Bunch of simplistic excuses. At one point or another over the last 5 years the Pats have had all these areas covered and still lost.
Poor planning is coaching. If Denver was going to shut down the NE running game there should have been a counter measure. That is on the scheme. Weis won with an innovative scheme.
Once again, youre talking out of yer arse and do not know what Shanahan will do. McDaniels came here after failing as a HC. Belichick brought in former HC Dom Capers for a job. HC Mike Martz won a SB and took a coordinators job. BB took a coordinators job.
First off, we do not know what politics were involved in DC. Snyder isnt exactly a stable owner and there were rumors of conflict with Griffin and Shanahan and that Grifffin went to Snyder.
Your point is moot anyway since Belichick determines who is healthy enough to play and who isnt under the new NFL guidelines. Every injury is fair game now since KC Chiefs Niel Smith is suing the NFL because he needs a hip replacement.
Where are the offers today?
Again and I will type s l o w l y for you. IF Shanahan wants to coach THIS season I hope BB brings him on board.
McDaniels was also responsible for Maroney, Lloyd and now Almendola. So fail if you believe that he is some great talent evaluator.
I will be waiting for more of your simplistic reasoning.
1. The Jets and Ravens didn't "figure it out". They played our weaknesses against us. They knew we either didn't have the receivers to beat them deep so they stacked the coverage between the numbers, were weak up the middle, didn't have big receiving threat in the red zone, or all three. Knighton knew some of Mankins blocking schemes because he watched tape and NFL Network, where they detailed the pulling plays. The Pats, for example, knew how to stop the pick play in the first game against Denver. Does that mean that they "figured the Broncos out"?
2. 2009: Pats had a deep threat to go outside the numbers, but their red zone woes were well documented. 2010: Pats didn't have a deep threat receiver to threaten outside of the numbers and were weak along the interior OL. 2011: Pats were strong in the interior OL and had a red zone threat but no deep threat WR that can work outside the numbers. Still got to the Super Bowl where the Giants beat them because they could rush Brady with four down linemen and stacked the coverage between the numbers. Naturally, Gronk could have help, but he was our #1 red zone threat and was hurt. 2012: Brandon Lloyd was the threat outside the numbers and hit the deck every time he caught a pass. OL was once again weak in the interior and Gronk was lost halfway through the season, meaning the Ravens could take out Hernandez and stop our offense cold in the red zone. So, as I was saying...
3. By "poor planning", I was referring the personnel evaluation, which McDaniels has nothing to do with on this team. That's on Belichick.
4. Innovative schemes can't do much when you don't have to horses to beat them at what they're daring you to beat them with. We essentially had three carbon copies of the same receiver this past Sunday.
5. There are a bunch of non-truths in this post. McDaniels started here, went to Denver, had some solid drafts, got fired after impatient ownership wanted to move in a different direction, went to St. Louis, and came back here. Martz never won a Super Bowl as a head coach and came back as a coordinator. The drafting of Maroney was not on McDaniels. If you can't even get your facts straight, this debate is worthless.
6. Snyder stated he was stepping back and giving more authority to Shanahan. That sinking ship was on Shanahan. The stunt he pulled with Griffin (which may ruin his career) was either due to incompetence or extreme pride. Either way, that's not something you want in an OC.
7. Belichick, not McDaniels, is responsible for the FA signings and trades. McDaniels may have had his input but, even then, Lloyd was a 1000 yard receiver in this offense so that's not exactly a "fail", and Amendola was injured this season, which means it's too early to make a judgement on him one way or another.
