Eric Ortiz of NESN takes a look at part of the current 'Patriot Way'. He may not come out and say it but I will - it's obviously a polar opposite way of doing things in comparison to the way the division rival Jets are handling themselves this offseason. I suppose you could disagree about the TMZ reference in regards to Tom Brady, but that seems to be far more about their effort to follow hi, than any effort on his part to appear in tabloids.

Don’t expect to see any Patriots starring on reality TV shows anytime soon.

As long as Bill Belichick is calling the shots in Foxboro, the focus will be on spread offense, creative playcalling, multiple defensive fronts, stopping the run, generating a fierce pass rush, and winning the battle of special teams and turnovers.

That’s the way it should be.

Good stuff. I don't care how they spin it, any other approach will bring distractions that ultimately affect on-field performance. The Green Beans' approach with all the blowhard trash talk, HBO, players of questionable character, etc., will come back to bite them in the ass big time.

Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald takes a look at how the patriots have managed to turn over the majority of the roster and yet avoid bottoming out with losing seasons.

That’s why they don’t have transition years, either, despite some experts predicting that 2010 will be just that for the Patriots defense.

Instead, Kraft’s team constantly morphs from old to young, from weakness to strength, with just a few speed bumps. Instead, it slowly moved from the NFL’s oldest team in 2009 to one with far more youth in 2010.

Kraft concludes by saying he doesn't want to trade any good players but sometimes it is an unfortunate nature of the business based on their contract demands. I don't know if that was a reference to past players like Seymour and Branch, the current situation with Mankins, or just a comment about the team's general philosophy. He also compares a team's roster to an investment portfolio: always trying to upgrade the bottom half while trying to keep the upper half at the cutting edge.
