Pats Interest in Jackson nixed by Bob Kraft, owner

It's not just the contract, but the compensation to the Chargers that make this deal impossible. VJ is NOT coming to NE. He's expensive, he's a head case and he's 1 bit of trouble away from a year suspension. No way.

LOL Way to back up your lone report of any interest not panning out... I don't doubt there are knuckleheads within the organization who don't get the system no matter what just as there are posters here who never will. That has no bearing on geniune interest... Scouts often have more interest in college players than anyone actually picking them in this building ever does... Just like team docs feeling out of the loop, those (and player agents) are the levels of sourcing most mediots have hereabouts unless Bill or the FO or a player decides to feed them something for spin.

Pats Interest in Jackson nixed by common sense, knowledge

- It would likely cost too much in terms of draft picks to acquire him.

- It would cost too much in terms of money to keep him around (he wanted Brandon Marshall money, when he's not even as good as Brandon Marshall).

- He'd be too expensive for a guy who hasn't played a snap since mid-January and has to digest a new playbook/system on the fly.

- Also has the baggage with the DUI suspension, and unless I'm mistaken, his next offense would cost him an entire season.

Not worth the hassle. Kraft made the right call.

Mo's correct. The player's agents are usually the sources of such rumors. They are trying to drum up interest and mediot coverage for their client.

Yea and as Bob and Jonathan look around they will find that Randy was just about the least problematical of all the big WRs out there. Too bad they muffed it and didn''t sign him to an extension; the Patriots will never have another WR as good.

If this is true, i am not suprised. VJax is way too risky even though his talent speaks for itself.

Agreed 100%. In complete honesty, Kraft is no better than Jerry Jones or Dan Snyder in terms of meddling in team/G.M. personnel decisions at this point. Besides being overly frugal, he is mistaken when he sticks his nose in the middle of responsibilities of the G.M. I know, I know, he owns the team. And it's his right, and if he wants the Pats to go the way of the Skins and Cowboys, then keep at it Kraft. It's not about winning for him anymore, just about money, and the image the Pats keep so that his other business endeavors look clean and professional.

Oh Jeez, Not This Again!

I really doubt this story. Kraft doesn't make personnel decision, and going after VJax would got against everything that Belichick's about anyways.

Way to go out on a limb. Moss if the second best receiver of all time.

Pretty much. The chances of him coming here were always slim to none. We would get raped in a trade by the Chargers for him.

Gee going out on a limb when you say the Patriots may never have a WR again who is as good as one of the two best WR of all time. I mean the 49ers have not had a WR as good as Rice since he left but hmmm they did have TO who was pretty good too. Moss and Rice are the two best WR ever and to expect either us or the 49ers to get the next one that good is possible but it is more likely one of the other 30 teams get him.

come on now ... don't ruin Fred's parade.

Yep. And how about that Ron Brace too? What a disaster he is.

After Malcolm Floyd's monstrous performance today I would think VJax looks more tradeable by the weeks gone by

I think that tommorrow we will either get a new WR (say a Steve Smith or whomever) or we won't be getting one at all. After that, only Branch would be able to sync soon enough to be worthwhile.

I have no idea if anything will happen, probably not. Still, Carolina is at 0-5 and could use an additional 4th or 5th. Plus, that is an organization in transition over money/ownership.

Hope so, a 4th or a 5th could be gambled.
