Pats cancel joint practices with Tennessee

Incidentally everyone is criticising the Robert's hit on a sliding QB as showing a lack of discipline - it looked to me like he launched just as the QB gave himself up. He's a huge guy running full speed - not as if he can stop on a dime.
The Pats were invited GUESTS in Green Bay and both teams agreed to the rules and parameters of the week long ago. All was well until the Packers took it to the Pats and dominated at Wednesdays practice. The Pats watched the film and came out Thursday not looking to be productive and have another quality practice like Wednesday. Nope, they came out Thursday looking to fight and not get embarrassed again.

Saturday the two teams were warming up on opposite sides of the field in pre-game warm ups, which is customary, and some of the Pats decided to walk across the fifty to the Packers side and start their immature chirping again for some odd reason. Totally unacceptable.

Then the game starts and the Packers hand the Pats 7 points, C Josh Myers botched a snap. The next time the Packers get the ball the Packers are driving, J-Love scrambles for 11 yards and slides. All is well right? Nope, the Pats feel the need to take a late cheap shot to his neck and head area after he slides. Obvious intent to injure the Packers QB1. We are back to the Thursday unacceptable Pats crap again. The Packers finish the drive and score. Game tied 7-7. The Packers pull all starters, because they are not going to engage further with these hooligans and risk any unnecessary injuries.

Early in the 4th quarter a Pats player(Bolden) is possibly seriously injured in a collision with his own teammate. Matt LaFleur discusses things with Bill Belichick and the officials. A decision is made to contact New York and get approval on suspending the game. Game suspended and the classy fan base in Green Bay applauds the decision.

There are reports that the Titans were not interested in the Pats coming to Nashville after what they heard took place in Green Bay.

This type of thing has happened before this year with the Pats. This has become an ongoing theme of joint practices with the Pats. They are going to find it difficult to find partners for joint practices in the future. Not anyones fault but their own.

We are all pleased to hear that Bolden is perfectly fine. The Pats have left Green Bay and good riddance. The Packers can now get back to what has been a FANTASTIC and very productive training camp.

"Would have loved to have worked with them," Vrabel said, "but obviously understand that things come up. … We'll practice and we'll get work in and see where we are at the end of the week."

Fights are breaking out all over the league during joint practices. Perhaps word hasn't reached Green Bay yet. Here's some more help for you.

We aren't alone:

You silly guy. Have fun looking up at Detroit, Chicago and Minnesota in the standings this season.

Those two words together do make sense, though. That is, as far as what it does.
Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes “I don’t understand why when people want you to toughen up they say grow some balls, balls are sensitive and tender. They should say grow a vagina, those things can take a pounding.” Betty White

Thanks. It's refreshing to see an unbiased opinion here from an opposing fan.

Pats fans think if they type some complete delusional prediction that it will come true. We will see how your little guarantee for the NFC North works out.

Good luck with all that.

Too funny

Speaking of "too funny," where in my post did you see the word "guarantee"? Just reading the preseason tea leaves forecasting a very down year for the cheeseheaders. Good luck with all that. I WILL guarantee, however, that your welcome here has expired due to classless trash talk over practices and a preseason game. Take a running jump.

They didn't cancel joint practice because they are soft. Most likely scheduling got fouled up with the extra night in GB. You could add in the lack of discipline is a slight factor in the decision, but it's not because they are soft.

LOL. How does it feel to have had TWO hall of fame QBs back-to-back for 30 years and only 2 rings?

We all know the real pre-season starts in September. Don't know why anyone would be upset about this.

This is some embarrassing for you.

I want to be on the record that I was against cancelling the joint practices BECAUSE of the safety issue. Think about it . It is simple math. The Pats will have at least 2 padded practices this week. On every one on one, 7 on 7, and 11 on 11, snap there is a chance for 2, 14, or 22 pats players to get hurt. When you are in joint sessions you cut that in HALF. So beyond the benefits of having a more intense competitive practise, you have LESS of a chance of injuries.

I understand the concern for Bolden and how serious it LOOKED and the effect it had on the team in general, but he flew back on the plane and looks like he'll be OK to play again when he can get out of the concussion protocol. (unless of course the Pats decide to hide him for a year with the Foxboro flu)

BTW- since he got a LOT of snaps, I started to watch his plays more closely (I recorded the game) Bolden came into the league with a rep for being a very raw, but physically talented CB. And that was EXACTLY what we saw on the field. His quickness, speed and size were evident, as well as the lack of instincts, anticipation, and experience. Personally I saw enough to want ti keep this kid as a Patriot either on the PS or the IR.

At BEST he's going to be out at LEAST 2 weeks, and his play to date, imho doesn't deserve a roster spot. Plus the fact he's already in a crowded talented CB room. PS would be ideal, but 6'3 4.3 CB's don't last long on the waiver wire and some team who doesn't HAVE a good CB room might think he's worth developing. Based on what I saw, I don't think he makes it through waivers.

The best thing to happen is that he is out a couple of months and the Pats won't have to make a decision until later in September or October when team's rosters are more stable. and they are less likely to take a shot at a kid like Bolden.

I've never been to a regular practice let alone a joint practice, but I heard that the joint practices this year were twice as long as regular practices, which I assumed had something to do with the logistics of getting everyone's regular reps in with twice the number of players. Also, don't they break players out in groups for certain drills and run the drills on different parts of the practice fields to accommodate the additional players?

Regarding injury risk, it doesn't matter who they face, it matters how many reps they are exposed to. Are you saying that players have less total reps in a joint practice?

Example: Pat 1 vs Pat 2 at 4 reps is the same as Pat 1 vs Pack 1 and Pat 2 vs Pack 2 at 4 reps.
