That response was pretty nice. I might drop by that place and checkout the landscape someday. But this will always be my "Patriots Home".

And just so Undertaker knows, if he is still reading this thread: My 'anger' was entirely in the Ham of the Moment and I hold absolutely no grudge toward any of the 'punks' at Patriots Planet.

It's so crazy that NEM's fanatical ways are known the Patscape over.

For those unaware, someone allegedly/apparently set a Bot to automatically vote for Patriots Planet today - that allowed Patriots Planet to pick up about 6000 votes within a matter of hours to close the gap and take the lead.

NEM noticed what was going on, called them on it, alerted all of us, who then double timed it with our votes in an effort to compete with the Bot.

Sadly this was pitting one Patriots Forum against another with some nasty things being said about whoever at Patriots Planet attempted to steal the vote

However, the administrator at Patriots Planet stepped in to urge anyone running the bot to cease and decist (and even urged PP members NOT to vote for Patriots Planet in the interest of inter-forum harmony - which is a very nice gesture, but unnecessary IMO as I'd welcome their honest votes)

Regardless, from the looks of it the person or people complied because their votes have been holding steady since mid-day, and though we're not back to the 68% we were at as of this morning, we're closer to where we were now with 60% to 39%

We should all still keep an eye on things - especially as it comes down to crunch time on Thrusday to make sure the alleged Bot doesn't get turned back on in the final hours, but things are back about where they should be as of now.

Hats off to NEM for being on top of this.

I apparently missed the excitement while I was at work today.

I appreciate all the support from everyone here. This wasn't supposed to turn into an all out "war", and it's not the end of the world if we don't win. The fact I have a copy of SI and can open it and see the site listed there is pretty cool. It would obviously be a cool thing if we did win, but win or lose we'll still be here and nothing's going to change.

I've followed all of the other Patriots fan sites over the years and we all have worked hard to provide something to bring fans together and follow the team. This is a place to talk about football and whatever else, and also to help forget about life for a while while rooting for a common interest. Unfortunately this poll has gone from being a cool thing to something that's kind of gotten out of hand. If you've voted, that's terrific and we appreciate it. However don't drive yourselves crazy over it. It's just a poll to earn a link on a webpage...and that's really about it. It's not enough for everyone to waste your free time over. I know the owner of the Planet feels the same way from what I've read, and I'm sure they're also disappointed that it's come down to this.

Needless to say you guys have already done enough, and the support alone already makes all of us involved with the site feel like winners. So I guess we'll just ride it out and see how it goes.

So we should commend someone for making unsubstantiated accusations against fellow Patriots fans? Should we not consider that a bot also may have been used for patsfans votes? At a minimum we know that some patsfans voters openly voted numerous times (manually) and are repeatedly encouraging others to do the same. Is that really any less ethical? You're kidding yourself if you believe the poll was intended to see which websites users are willing to spend more time clicking their mice.

I just hope this poll ends soon because its making some folks look pretty immature and creating division among Patriots fans.

As much as they want to deny it, someone over there is using a BOT...

In addition, they have gone to the Chiefs board and have asked their 7000 members to vote for them, too.

And, they have gone to other boards in their network and asked the same.

If they really want to play that game, I am on boards with over 50,000 members, total, and I know that I can get 90% of them to cast a vote for us, but Iwont stoop to their level and do crap like that.

THEy have created this war between boards, not me, not us.

It's easy to just walk away and forget it because they're not "playing fair." Why should they be allowed to get away with it?

I just put in 3 votes from 3 different computers and ip addresses (mine & 2 neighbors) and the meter still read 19252. It is not picking up our votes.

If the owner of their site had any honesty, he would notify SI to withdraw his site from consideration because of the electronic voting they are doing.

NEM, not trying to pick a fight with you, but UT over at the planet is an honorable guy, and has already asked the bot use (and the regular voting in general) to stop, as you know.

But I think you're mistaken if you think SI gives two flying squirts about a) the voting... honest or otherwise, and b) UT's wishes to withdraw his site from consideration (pretending for a moment that he would do that). SI doesn't care either way.

They've got you talking about them (SI) and linking to their site, they've got you generating traffic for them, that's all they care about. Believe me, it is VERY easy to restrict a poll to one vote per IP address only, to prevent this type of thing. Very, very easy. They didn't do that. This is what they wanted.
