No idea who they are but noticed the reports on Twitter so I figured I'd pass it along. The only note is that Haslam is now the 8th Rutgers player on the Patriots roster per Field Yates. Exciting stuff

At this hour Khaseem Greene has to be wondering what the hell he did to Bill Belichick

I like Jeff Howe's Tweet a minute ago, "No former Rutgers players were waived anywhere else today. The rest of the Patriots' roster can exhale until tomorrow."

Seriously, this is getting ridiculous. It's almost like Bill is letting Little Belichick have all of his RU friends over their house to play

"dad - he's really good.. trust me"

The Pats could save a bundle by firing their entire scouting staff
and sending Steve Belichick back to Rutgers for his master's degree.

Whats the over/under on rutgers players on the patriots roster???

Of course this question has little to do with recent signings of camp fodder. Belichick has absolutely no need for 90 players. The positions 71-80 didn't mean much in the past. 81-90 certainly includes a lot of waste of time.

You stole my very first thought.

Bill will simply take the fifth

heh.......

On the serious side, though, you have to consider that Steve grew up on the sidelines alongside his father, who's given him a LOT of insight on players, coaching, etc. Having him play college football wasn't a bad thing either.

What with that insight the young Belichick might well have an understanding of what his dad is looking for in a player. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt until we see how some of these Rutgers players pan out.

Personally, I'd love to see some more 'Bama players on the team. :rocker:

Do any people seriously think all of these Rutgers picks are coming from recommendations from BB's son, who is basically doing coffee runs for the Pats? This is entirely Schiano's influence and probably some others associated within the current or former Rutgers organization.

I think it's a bit weird to syphon from a program that doesn't produce top collegiate talent based almost exclusively on a coaching association and I think it produces major questions about the optimality of building a football team, but BB's son is most certainly not involved in whatever this pipeline is all about.

In my book, BB can sign all the players he wants from the #4 scoring defense in the country.

The Rutgers offense has me scratching my head, though.

That was your Very First Thought???

That's pretty impressive.

My
Very First Thought was "Who the #$%& is this @$$Hole with the Stethoscope, to be slapping my @$$??? He hasn't even bought me a #$%&ing DRINK!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

weird...I thought the doctor slapped your mother...?

<delayed rimshot>

Couldn't care less about college team stats that have nothing to do with conference. How many top offenses did Rutgers play against? I don't mean to crap on the whole concept, but talking about Rutgers's stats in a crap conference means nothing. We're talking about players. The Pats for whatever reason believed there were lots of nationally valuable, draftable guys out of that defense. And the influence is clear.

And if we hear in training camp "Belichick cuts Rutgers guy #1, 2, 3, then there's an institutional problem.

To summarize, I am fully against any NFL coach that systematically drafts from a college system based on coaching connections, and the Pats-Rutgers connection is beyond systemic, it's a bias that has no place in the NFL. Let's hope these guys are all pro-bowlers.

Once the Rutgers program runs out of it's Schiano guys, the Patriots will have to start scouting again....or just sign/trade for Bucs players. Oh wait!

One thing about Rutgers athletes -- they know how to endure hard coaching.
