You do know that contract will be pocket change in two years, right? That ****ing contract is a ****ing disgrace to the entire human ****ing race.
McSorley can go to the practice squad by Cunningham will need to be on the 53 because of his upside. QB3, maybe even QB2 as eventual upside on gameday -- he adds more value on gameday than Zappe who will only hold a clipboard if Mac is healthy...I'll say.. a guy that we definitely need to stash on the practice squad is Cunningham.. boy this guy intrigues me.. a QB with RB and WR skills.
Boutte doesn't seem lost for a Rookie even Pop Douglas who's running with the ones.way too early for that kind of assessment for ANY of the "late" (after 4) round picks. Even "Pop" isn't a sure thing (although he's probably the next best thing)
Reminds me of some in Lincoln's cabinet wanting him to relieve Grant... His response: I can't afford to lose him; he fights.
“So Grant gets drunk, does he?” queried Lincoln, addressing himself to one of the particularly active detractors of the soldier.
“Yes, he does, and I can prove it,” was the reply.
“Well,” returned Lincoln, with the faintest suspicion of a twinkle in his eye—"you needn’t waste your time getting proof; you just find out, to oblige me, what brand of whiskey Grant drinks, because I want to send a barrel of it to each one of my generals.”
If I ran the Pats I'd go with 6 WRs tooAt this stage it feels like Douglas is a near-lock and Boutte is also coming for someone’s job. The question is whose. The only veteran WRs who are roster locks are Smith-Schuster and Parker. I could see Bourne traded for a mid round pick and $6M in cap savings, but Thornton was also a 2nd rounder a year ago and might fetch a decent pick in return too. At the same time, Thornton has a unique skillset and is under team control for 2 more years for cheap whereas Bourne is a free agent after this year. Boutte and Bourne are much more similar players to one another as well. Makes me think Bourne would likely be the odd man out.
Really, I would just rather they keep 6. They’ve been missing the dart board entirely at WR in the draft for quite a while now. If they suddenly find themselves with a couple gems, it might be worth carrying one extra. Besides, Parker has an injury history and it’s likely he will miss time at some point anyway.
It’s entirely possible, but I wouldn’t end the experiment for one report. Sow is going to be a project. It’s worth a redshirt season to see if he can be a tackle. If not, we’ll need competition for guard spots next year.
Absolutely agree, BB seems to be warming up to the modern NFL. Need a QB like Cunningham on this roster. Of course Mac's the guy, but we need to keep Cunningham around and develop him. It's all about mobility at the QB position.McSorley can go to the practice squad by Cunningham will need to be on the 53 because of his upside. I don't know if that's so but it might be an outgrowth of Scar repeatedly doing just that - taking low or undrafted raw material and coaching them into remarkable success. Someone said the mark of a true artist is to do what he does so well he makes it look easy so that the observer thinks "I can do that". Maybe Bill fell into that trap from watching Scar.I'm just hoping this isn't another example of Bill thinking, "a tackle costs 20 million? I'll just develop a 4th round tackle because I'm smarter than everyone."
It's not "all about mobility", but it's certainly nice to have a Wildcat option in the bag. Cunningham could play WR one play and then on the next play, with no substitutions, he lines up at QB with Mac split out. That's more dangerous than having a RB take that snap.Absolutely agree, BB seems to be warming up to the modern NFL. Need a QB like Cunningham on this roster. That answers my previous post of why BB looks the other way regarding JJAnd that's why Bill was never, ever going to cut him.

We can't afford to lose Jackie; he covers. Heck, I think we're still short one starting-caliber Outside CB and/or FS.

Slot Douglas as a 3rd down back. Problem solved
