Parker could be a game wrecker for us if he can stay on the field

Really nice pickup for us
Don’t think it is surprising in the least. He’s had some electrifying games over his career. That one game vs Gilmore comes to mind where he had like 8 for 140. Like you mentioned he just needs to be consistent and stay healthy to make the leap. I think the Pats and Mac can put him in that position.

I personally wonder if they're also trying to "streamline" to better accommodate some other offensive pieces that they feel are part of their longer term "core" (Parker, Thornton, Bourne, Jonnu come to mind) and get them comfortable and productive, then build up the complexity over the course of a couple seasons. As in - it's less about the QB and more about the guys around him.

I also wonder how much more complicated the system got over time. Like, was 18 year veteran Tom Brady running the same offense as first year starter Brady? This might just be a case of losing both the QB and the OC that knew that system inside and out, so it's a chance to reset and build that complexity back naturally with new faces. It will be interesting to see how the offense potentially evolves from week 1 to week 18 this year.

Maybe, and, again, I'd get cutting back on the playbook when it's a new OC (and one who doesn't know his ass from his elbows about the OC position yet), and a bunch of guys who might be a little slow in picking up the complexities of a post-snap adjustment offense. But none of those players have given any reason to believe that they should be given such a high level of deference when it comes to massive system change. I don't want to see the "throw it to a spot" offense. That style of offense is much more limited at the high end.

And now I'm having flashbacks to the Brady v. Manning debates of years past....

Can't believe it's back!
I'm happy to hear some of the news from first practice:
1. Re-align the OLine with Brown at LT, and Onwenu established at RG
2. Have Matty P call O plays rather than Judge
3. Simplify the offense to let young skill talent work
4. McMillan picking up from last TC, Uche & Perkins sound more ready
5. Parker might end up being a "Mossy" addition by the end of the season
6. Interested who will end up #2 CB, seems Mills starts as #1 (as sad as that is)

Biggest take away from today was Mac jones processing quicker on his throws than last year and getting the ball to the correct receiver in some really tight windows.

Did not see much tight window throws in last year’s camp!

I personally am with you on this one. I don't really love the talk about "streamlining" the offense. I've always felt that this system being so complex was a way that the Patriots had a leg up on the competition, even if it did present a learning curve for new members. I guess we'll see how it goes...
Since the intelligentsia here has already suggested that Belichick was actually a drag on Brady, maybe the offensive system was as well!

Does "griddy" mean like a cookout or barbecue or something like that?
it’s a very stupid ”dance”. For reference look up Mac‘s Pro Bowl TD run. He does the “griddy“ into the end zone

Jesus, Patricia looks like a blimp.

Watch an hour of the practice on youtube, thanks fans! This post is for Tyquan fans. What i saw and feel. For day 1, i was impressed. Not sure he's all there with the plays yet but i'm positive they want this kid on the field alot. He got alot of attention from Coach Bill, Troy Brown, Matti, Jones and Hoyer. Bill is all offense for day 1. I noticed the qb's when the play go sour specifically are looking to see if he's open (he was opposite Parker early). He caught a couple in the Endzone with 7's or 11, they did not review as catches for now but he caught em. He need to practice his release more and blocking, (Butler was in his grill) he'll get it soon enough. Gotta block in a Belichick offense. He also hesitates alot on plays not going to him, hopefully removes this habit as a tell for corners. In the Red Zone he has to be crossing the formation, useless running slot moves down there. I guess in this system you learn each others routes. Can't wait for the deep ball 1 on 1 drills!!!!

Dumbing down the offense that led you to Super Bowls basically every other year is not something any of us should be "glad" about.
Who said dumbing down? Sounds like they streamlined it. It was an offense that had 10 years of bloat from all the plays and concepts that JMD probably put in with Brady. Maybe they needed to shrink the playbook and throw out the chaff to get the good stuff

After so many years of Brady and McD adding things, the playbook got too complex and unwieldy for new players and coaches to execute without thinking too much. Things did not go well Brady's last few years with no WR talent able to break through. No sense learning things that do not work for the current personnel or will never be called. Hopefully these changes will allow the team to speed up execution which can only help on the field.

I love it. We've gone seamlessly from "Brady was the system" to "McDaniels was the system". The hatred is stronger than the logic.

Well, it's funny that all of a sudden people think BB doesn't know how to coach

My observations from attending...

There will be a logjam at WR if everyone stays healthy and look as good in full contact as they do now.

Devante Parker is too big and physical to cover one on one, he just needs to stay healthy.

Bourne hasn't missed a beat and practices like he plays, like his hair is on fire.

Agholor caught a bunch of back corner balls and fades.

Nixon is really quick to go along with that speed, he has no wasted effort in his routes.

Jonnu caught everything, including two one handed grabs that were out of reach on the sideline, he looks really dialed in.

Thornton is lightning fast, he also made a great back corner TD grab towards the end of practice and dead legged it to keep both feet in. Like I said before, the kid has really long arms, he catches balls without jumping.

Keene and Asiasi both caught everything thrown their way, Asiasi caught a back corner fade for a TD, Keene is really quick in and out of breaks for his size.

I didn't see Pierre Strong out there with the RB's?

Kevin Harris isn't just a big bruiser, he caught the ball well also.

Uche was getting a ton of work in pass coverage drills with the LB'ers, hopefully portends a more every down role for him.

The rookie DB's were getting a lot of run, including Schooler back at safety.

Mills and JoeJuan looked really solid.

Jack Jones is why the DB's were doing pushups to end practice, he bit on a look off by Mac and let a man underneath to catch and run right through his zone.

Strong was limited on Wednesday. After the stretching he went to the lower field with the trainers it was reported

I wonder if he’s genuinely injured or if James White’s progress has fast tracked Strong to learn the blocking and pass schemes? He might be getting a lot of one on one intensive schooling.

Not to get too far off topic…. But the real interesting thing about him is for how hard he threw and how wild he was, he never really suffered a major injury. I remember stories at the time saying he had average upper body strength, but he had the strongest legs trainers had ever seen on a pitcher. And the key to his not getting injured — even with all the extra pitches he threw because he was so wild — was that he threw from the legs and had a compact delivery for his arm. Seemed to work out well for him; I’m curious if more leg training among pitchers would help reduce their injury rates and allow them to pitch longer today.
That was what Clemens was always about, his legs.
