Player Signing Patriots sign WR Jalen "Always Hurt" Hurd

Seems like a buy low flier on a guy they traditionally covet. Physical and versatile like a larger version of Deebo Samuel. Has had some really bad luck with injuries so his body may be shot but definitely worth a look in training camp.

another project to learn how to play WR in the NFL beside Cunningham, Douglas, Lee and Boutte.
all have some physical skills that would translate to an nfl WR, but all a long ways away.
Pats needed additional WR's for camp, why not take a look?

For the same reason you just gave: We have enough projects here already.

I don’t understand why anyone is *****ing about a summer addition at the very end of the roster. What is the harm in bringing guys like this in? This is how they ended up getting guys like Malcom Butler, that nobody else wanted. You don’t lose anything, and every now and then you get something worthwhile out of it.
There are some who have to ***** about something (or everything) otherwise they wouldn’t be happy on this board.

Btw…I remember this kid from Tenn; he was a stud RB there. Definitely worth a flyer in camp as an end of the roster guy. Hopefully he’s fully healed and can show something as a WR conversion project.

I watched some college highlights and he just does not seem quick or nifty or fast. He seems like a real long shot to make it, but who knows. He is big, but slow and lumbering. The Patriots must be desperate if they think he can help.

They should be desperate, but they don't act as if they are.

Whats not to love about that..
Answer......
Hurd flamed out because of injury, and hasn't contributed one stat in the NFL. Useless.
Note: I think I read Hurd is personally responsible for skyrocketing health insurance premiums for all Americans.
(Could have been a typo)

Why don't we get a true slot!?!?!
Bill saving his ammo for marginal Midshipmen special teamers.

I think BB is not desperate. His 25 million per year is fully guaranteed
We need a GM and coach who are desparate to win
That is exactly what we don't need... Desperation leads to doing stupid things like trading a 2nd for Muhammad Sanu

Eh... my comment was more about his size than anything else...

As you can see I addressed durability concerns immediately

Could be worse - Bill could have picked him in the draft! At least this way he’ll be in between Moss and Sanu only free!

What does that even mean?

It means a guy that was a high pick (3rd round), has been through numerous NFL fitness and training regimens, has been in numerous NFL camps, and has played in multiple pre-season games, but four years later Hurd was never released due to performance. I think that is unique, especially for someone added at the 90th roster spot. Typically guys added this late in the Summer are later draft picks or UFAs, and have bounced around to various teams with practice squad experience or limited game experience, and almost always have been released at some point due to other players beating them out of a roster spot. I think it is rare to sign a 3rd round pick off the street that has been through NFL fitness training and camp, but no-one knows if he is a "home run" or not because he has made the 53 coming out of all three camps he participated in. Usually the guys we pick up from 80 onwards are rookies or like Diego who are end of the roster guys that have been released for performance issues at one point or another.

Maybe someone knows who was the last player we signed off the street that had been in the NFL for three years or more and was never cut for performance issues (always made the 53 coming out of three or more camps).

Hope he doesn't hurt himself at the signing. Haven't played an NFL Down but have $$$$$ to show for it some people have all the luck. Dalton Keene pt. II.

I love his size.. always want bigger WRs on the roster.. Parker is only one over 6ft.
At 6" 5 I'd absolutely love it if he came in and turned heads enough to make the final roster.

Where do you get that Parker is the only one over 6'?

Bourne - 6'1 2/8
Thornton - 6'2 3/8
Smith-Schuster - 6'1 2/8

Because they need something to b!tch about. It's the only purpose they have in life.
