Yes absolutely his life is what is important. With a healthy Barmore we stand to have a dominant defense..

Barmore, Williams, Bentley, spillane, landry, peppers, Dugger, Davis, Gonzo.. wow!
I have no problem admitting that when the day began I wasn't optimistic about what we were doing (or not doing in FA). That being said, so far, the moves made actually make sense and should improve the team (unlike the "Spree" in 2021).

Yes, the 2021 spree felt like just names.. outside of Henry and judon none really helped the team... spillane the more I watch on him the more I like.. he's a teddy Bruschi type down hill, sideline to sideline thumper. I think he can play alongside Bentley.. Tavai probably sticks around as a rotational player.

Overpay? Yes.
Very good signing? Absolutely

It looks as though FA will be about defense and the draft will be offense.

This means one of two things:

Vrabel wants to copy Philly's defense or Barmore is done. I really hope Barmore's gets passed the blood clots and can return to football. Williams and Barmore would feed off each other.
Barmore's a big time talent. But nobody knows how his medical issues will turn out.

Signing Milton was a must in my opinion. Big move. Glad we got it done.

Someone on here mentioned Williams can play on the end as well. Im not sure how accurate that is but that gives keion some opportunity to slide inside.

I say we draft another edge rusher fairly high anyway
I remember the old Amoeba Defence, with all the DL standing up and milling around so the OL had no idea who would be where when the ball was snapped, let alone how to block them. Wonder if that will become a part of the arsenal again? Even just having Williams and White swapping unpredictably between edge and inside could complicate OL blocking schemes. I love an unpredictable and aggressive D.

That dude ain't backing out now. This defensive line could be nasty. Vrabel wanted that, and it seems he just might have gotten it in year 1.
If Barmore comes back healthy, that DL will be very nasty. Even if not, they’ll still be solid. Tonga, Pharms, Roy will be decent pieces and they can probably pick up another good DT in the draft.

Not to throw cold ice on this. And i know he is considered the best defender on the market.... but for a guy about to be paid 26 million per year... you have to ask yourself where has the production been during his career? 11.5 sacks in 4 regular seasons doesn't scream 26M/year to me. I hope everyone is right about him and he is that good and ready to take the next step in his career and play up to this deal.

Right now i am going to be optimistic... but this may be an over pay.

Not a fan at that money. He better have some serious production with that contract. He won't be playing along side Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis in New England.

What I'd like to know is how we plan to stop the run with pass rushing DTs and smaller quicker LBs. Where's our Jeffery Simmons?
You can find stopping the run a lot cheaper than rushing the passer. I believe they will figure that one.

It's a possible overpay, but almost every FA is an overpay. Thing is, he is still really young so he has room to grow. I think he is going to be a weapon on the line.

DTs don't usually light up the world in sacks

Having a 25 year old cornerstone in the line is immense. If the cap continues growing, he WONT be an overpay in 1 or 2 year, while hitting his prime

Great signign, if he doesnt Haynesworth his way to retirement

This is unfortunately the trend going on in the NFL. Nobody really heard of this guy until late in the playoffs/Super Bowl. And he really has no business getting more than Barmore did last off-season.

You can also thank Derrick Brown and Alim McNeil for Williams' new deal.

With that said, the Pats haven't been able to draft well in over 10 years. They will have to spend their money on FA's until they do so.

It is a deep DL Draft (a long with RB and TE).
