I was going to make a reference to Thomas' age but then I looked and discovered he is younger than Edelman. Is it just me or is that surprising? Seems like he's been around a lot longer than just since 2010

Torn Achilles in December? That's like a one-year recovery, right?
I can't imagine he is a candidate for active roster the first 8-10 games of the season.

The actual real deal will be quite lower id guess . still a hot candidate for the worst Pat deal this offseason.. makes a quite depressing WR hunt actually..

Jesus that’s a lot. I wonder if it’s heavily incentivized?

I don’t think it’s a bad deal. Guaranteed money shouldn’t be high and if he hits the 6 mil it means he had himself a solid year.

Edelman-Gordon-Thomas-Dorsett is not half bad

The 2019 WR group has so many potential outcomes.

High-end example:

Gordon (returns)
Thomas (healthy)
Edelman
Brown/Isabella
Dorsett

Top 3-5 WR corps in football.

Low-end example:
Dorsett
Edelman
lower round rookie
???

Gordon (suspended)
Thomas (decline, doesn't recover to form prior to injury)

Not good.

Hopefully the team can get something in the middle.

I like it.

2017 - 949 yards
2018 - 677 yards

I think he can be an 700 yard WR or so. Better than Hogan or Dorsett. Good enough to be a #2. They needed someone who could do that to be a bridge player. Now get some talented rookies in and we should be okay.

I get your not being greedy but hopefully they get the high end example .

Well I’ll say this...anything was better news to me than re-signing Hogan or paying through the nose for Tate. Pats gambling again on some low risk, moderate reward players and hoping to get something unexpected back.

I'm curious to know how severe the achilles injury was. Was it a full tear or partial tear?

Hot take is $6m is high for a over 30 WR with a significant injury but I'm assuming a majority of it is performance/snaps/roster/active -based.

I don't think it's a sure thing he makes this team anyways

He'll probably be suspended anyway, under the PCP. I think BB is counting on that to be a sort of pseudo-PUP. Recover and serve his suspension at the same time.

Two birds with one stone.

I can’t wait for like 5 mill of this contract to be “Win SB MVP.”

$6m, particularly an incentive laden $6m, for a top 2 WR, is not a lot of money.

If his previous injury is any indication, he may be ready by training camp. Exactly what we need on the outside.
