Re: Taylor Price Waived

So your saying we lost because the other teams pass rush was to much for us to handle. If we had a pass rush then we would have stopped Mark Sanchez.

Pass rush would have done jack squat. Most of Mark Sanchez's passes were 3 step drops. They are designed to beat pressure, even quick pressure. That's why in the first JEts game this year, we went press coverage and when they threw 3 step drop passes, they failed.

That's really not what he said at all.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

I think most NFL "experts" would agree with me on this one. Matthews is the real deal and the best player on that Defense. He get doubles and opens everything up. Watch the Packers play and see who other teams go out of their way to block. Thats where the answer is.
Matthews is a very good player, but I wouldn't use a description of him as the "best player on that defense" as a testimonial. That defense, arguably, isn't much, if any, better than ours. Watch the Patriots play and see who other teams go out of their way to double-team - it's Gronk, and that's where that answer is.

Look I am not saying your wrong that you would rather have Gronk. I get it, he is a force. Personally I would prefer Matthews. What I am trying to say is that BB needs to change the way he drafts. He continues to trade back and the result has been a lack of impact players on the defensive side of the ball. We need to start making picks in the first round so that we could add impact players.

Gronkowski is probably the most important part of our offense with Welker...I cant imagine where we would be this year without him. the guy is on pace for 1000+ yards and 14-15 TD's those are elite WR type numbers. and the guy is a TE who blocks like a monster.

Andre Carter is playing about as well as Clay Matthews is this year IMO

Drafting is more of a guessing game than it is a certainty....thats why you can draft guys like Gronk/Hernandez in the later rounds and get Gems and draft someone in the 1st round who is a bust.

on the same token, we can look at all the teams who didnt draft Gronk or hernandez and and say that they drafted poorly.

either way, the Patriots have been horrible at drafting WR's...but we never really HAVE drafted an "elite" wr in the belichick era. Deion Branch is the best receiver BB drafted...Brown was good, but not necessarily elite....

it has to be the system, because it cant be a coincidence that so many WR's have failed here...but, if we can grab guys who are productive from FA, UDFA or trades it doesnt matter to me...the draft isnt the only place to find players

Re: Taylor Price Waived

That's usually hard for a high round 2nd rounder. Usually trades for 2nd rounders entail a future 1st rounder.

Not true, Gronk was taken with the 42nd pick, 10th pick in the round, that wouldn't cost a first rounder unless that was all they were trading, they had picks throughout the second and could have moved up with an additional third (the pick used for Price.) See the trade below as an example of what it would take to move up as well as pointing out that they could have just as well used this pick to move up for Gronk, instead of a 1st rounder.

2010 NFL Draft - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

#47: New England ? Arizona (D). New England traded this selection it acquired from Tennessee to Arizona for a second-round selection (58th overall; traded to Houston, who selected Ben Tate) and a third-round selection (89th overall; traded to Carolina, who selected Armanti Edwards

Re: Taylor Price Waived

Our offense is tough for WRs to learn, but for what it's worth for next year, there will be two free agent receivers out there who have played and excelled in our offense - Dwayne Bowe and Brandon Lloyd. If we can retain Welker and grab one of them, we should be in decent shape at WR for 2012.

we shouldve made the trade for Brandon Lloyd when we had the chance(it was a 6th rounder that the rams gave up to get him) the guy...his lowest YPG of the last 5 games was 48yards.

He would not agree w. a lower contract apparently.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

Ooops Paul Newman. Sorry for my rude post; it makes me sound like one of the typical douche bags on this forum.

There is nothing wrong with Big Receiver lust. I get shutdown corner lust every winter; such fantasies are what makes the end-of-the-season and offseason fun. Alas both of us are denied year after year.... Floyd might slip in the draft and may have cleaned up his act so who knows...

I'll admit, my bias of Floyd has a lot to do with the fact I'm a big ND fan. I agree, the Pats biggest issues probably isn't a receiver right now. They got to get a pass rusher, and they definitely still need a corner badly. The draft is pretty deep with corners too, I'd be stunned if Belichick doesn't pick one up. They got to address their receivers either with free agency, or draft picks. The Patriots don't tend to spend much on free agents, so that likely leaves the draft. They don't have to take one in the first round. They do need someone who is a big target that can spread the field for Brady and Co.

Taking Floyd is very tempting. He definitely had some character issues. Really his only big issue was the DUI's. I know that's very serious, but he's come back to ND completely rededicated, and has really cleaned up his act. He's one of those character guys that are capable of adapting. He just needed more discipline. He's lost weight, and looks fantastic. His work ethic is off the charts.

The Patriots lack a big physical receiver with perimeter speed badly. Floyd would fit this need perfectly. Just imaging him plugged into this offense next year with Gronk, Welker, and Hernandez is frightening.

Watching him play 4 years, he's a very gifted player. He's basically carried ND's pathetic offense this season. He still put up monster numbers despite horrendous QB play, and teams double and triple teaming throughout the game.

was not impressed with bowe during last week's game. he totally gave up on the last play that was INT'ed. yeah maybe palko being your qb takes away your focus, but that was terrible

Re: Taylor Price Waived

If they don't trade back in 2009, they don't get the pick in 2010 that they used to pick Gronkowski. And if you think Matthews is a "15 sack a year dominant OLB," you need to get your eyes checked. Not only has he never had 15 sacks, but he's on pace for less than half that this year.

The real problem isn't that we don't have Matthews, it's that we don't have Connor Barwin.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

finally...guy just plain sucked

4 sacks last week, 8.5 on the season at OLB, 6-4 264, taken 5 picks after the back to back picks of Brace and Butler.

C'mon now, Polly. We've discussed this before. You need to go back to Hoboken. You keep edging yourself back here when you know perfectly well that you're a troll and we came to an agreement that you seem to habitually want to violate. Go back home now, doggie.

LOL.....but those who are drunk on the kool-aid will tell you that its the SCHEME.....you know the one that was compeltely flipped prior to this season

Re: Taylor Price Waived

Now can we all agree that BB is THE worst in the NFL when it comes to drafting wide receivers?

Bethel Johnson
Chad Jackson
Brandon Tate
Taylor Price

This is just ridiculous.

Re: Taylor Price Waived
