Re: Taylor Price Waived

I didn't include Gronk with the rest of them, just the entire 09 draft. Nor would I actually make a trade like that; however he has more value then all of them combind. I agree it's great we got Gronk from the trade back. But BB misses on a large enough percentage of picks that our defense lacks impact players, so it stinks. If we actually drafted in the first round more often then we would have more impact players. The NFL is a matchup league and impact players win games. Look at what the Packers have done over the last five years; a high amount of impact players.

How can you include players that we picked up that have nothing to do with the Clay Matthews trade and ignore a player that is a direct result of it?

You really want to be right, it just isn't working though.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

If they don't trade back in 2009, they don't get the pick in 2010 that they used to pick Gronkowski. And if you think Matthews is a "15 sack a year dominant OLB," you need to get your eyes checked. Not only has he never had 15 sacks, but he's on pace for less than half that this year.

I think most NFL "experts" would agree with me on this one. Matthews is the real deal and the best player on that Defense. He get doubles and opens everything up. Watch the Packers play and see who other teams go out of their way to block. Thats where the answer is.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

So, to sum up the thread so far:

Gronk>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Matthews>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Tiquan>Price

Alas poor Taylor, I knew him, not.

He opens up to jack squat. If he did, the other DE and LBs would have high sack numbers.
And when Clay faced us, Vollmer owned his a**

The Pats also had their hands on picks 44 (used to trade up to 42) 47 and 58 at some point as well as picks 53 and 62 used to select Spikes and Cunningham, they could have gotten pick 42 in any number of ways that didn't include trading a first round pick.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

Gronk>Matthews.

On the Price note that sucks ALOT. I had high hopes for him i mean everytime he took the field he would look like the best WR on the field. I know he wasn't a great route runner but sh*t how hard can it be to run straight. I still think this is a bad move I think he has potential but on the bright side i also like Underwood lets see what he can do.

Putting 'experts' in between the quotation marks was the right thing to do. That usually means you don't believe they are actually experts, and no real expert would agree with you. You can't even convince people who aren't experts to take your side.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

The Packers drafted Matthews...and they have far better corners then we do, and their defense still isn't particularly great. They actually give up more PPG than NE does. He's very talented, but not some magical player that would have single-handedly fixed our woes.

That's usually hard for a high round 2nd rounder. Usually trades for 2nd rounders entail a future 1st rounder.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

He does not get doubled every play. It's rare that he gets doubled. You notice how on some plays they now use him instead of a traditional 34OLB, they use him as a LB blitzing???

We have the worse pass rushes in the NFL??
What games are you watching. Actually, do you even watch NE football??? We are tied at 14th for sacks. Guess who is tied w. us...wait for it...Green Bay.

Actually, Bill would take Gronk 100 times over 100. He loves TE's He spend 2 1st rounders looking for players like Gronk. Heck, even he was the Browns HC, he was about to take Kyle Brady, the TE, before the NYJ came in and took him. BB traded down and took someone else.

Last time I checked, TD>>>>>>>>>> sacks. Gronk has 21 tds in 27 games. Clay has 25 sacks in 42 games .

I'll take the TE.

You think we have a good pass rush? Are you sure you watch the games? Although I agree it has been better the last few games when Anderson and Carter play at the same time. And last I checked you need to be able to stop the other team to win championships. That is why Gronk lost last season and Matthews has a ring. Gronks team couldn't stop Mark Sanchez in the playoffs and were beaten by a team that plays great defense for the second straight season. When we won three superbowls we had great defense. If the defense is great Brady will find a way to win the game, even if he doesnt have the best TE in football.....who once again I agree is great to have.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

Because i am not most kool-aid drinkers who drink BB's juice. This defense has stunk for years now.Its due to poor lousy drafting and not getting that edge rusher!

Holy ****, your'e right! There it was, right there in front of us the whole time. So simple... so damn simple... it's brilliant... it's simply brilliant!

BB (as every other coach ever drafting in any league throughout the history of every sport) assumes risks on every pick. He measures potential upsize vs draft position and risk of failure. You DO realize you can't be right on them all, don't you? If you did, you could coach a team in every division simultaneously, show up once a week or so for a light practice, win each division, playing against yourself for the conference, then flip a coin to decide which of your teams wins the Super Bowl (which after winning 10 consecutive, is now named after you to properly recognize your drafting and coaching genius ) Tough crowd. Tough crowd.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

HATE the fact that we couldn't at least give the guy A game to get on the field, to really commit to making him part of the gameplan. Ridiculous. Short-sighted. Once again this season, it feels like decisions are made angrily. CUT SANDERS. CUT MERIWEATHER. CUT WILHITE. CUT BUTLER. Go, get out, no foresight.

Whatever, I know we're doing well and In BB We Trust (and I do), but this just makes me frustrated.

Newsflash:

The Packers don't stop anybody. Their offense just hasn't had a bad day.

Clay Matthews and Gronkowski are two out of 44 starters on those teams, saying Gronk lost and Clay won is stupid.

edit: I'd also probably choose our mangled defense every time over the Packers defense this season.

Yes we do. What's lacking w. our pass rush is quick pressure. Those types of pressure comes from DT's. They are usually closest to the QB. We don't hav ea true 3tech DT anymore since Mike Wright, Pyror were Ir'd. Wish we did bring back Kade Weston. He showed flashes of that 3 tech spot in preseason.

Also, Gronk plays defense??

Gronk was forced to block all night long that night because our O line could not apparently block a 3 man rush all day long. We lost that game not b/c of the defense. We lost because our WRs could not get open and Brady had happy feat all day long. Our D stopped them 3 out of the 5 times when the Jets got the ball in our own territory. If our pathetic offense had done something for 3 qtrs in that game instead of sitting on it's own hands, maybe the dam would not have opened in the 4th qtr.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

Maybe it's just me but doesn't it seem like there's going to be more than the normal amount of those prototypical #1 WR's we're all dreaming about available in the draft next year?

It seems like this is the case most years but so few of them turn into Megatrons. Not clear why; maybe all they had in college was height or maybe they had too many full-length fur coats...

At the other end of the spectrum there always seems to be a dearth of CBs

Re: Taylor Price Waived

Bill has a penchant for doing this type of stuff a day, or so, before a game (see Bodden.) There's a message there to the troops, in my opinion.

Yeah NE Patriot fans who love Gronk...as do I. I would just prefer a great pass rusher over a great TE. That simple.

Charles Woodson says hello. Also he does not get doubled on every play. And GB's defense is allowing 4.6 points per game more than GB. Makes me wonder if you just make up things because you like Matthews so much.

So your saying we lost because the other teams pass rush was to much for us to handle. If we had a pass rush then we would have stopped Mark Sanchez.
