Re: Taylor Price Waived

I think Price still has PS eligibility. Let's see if they give him another chance there.

If not, then I'm really disappointed- he was my binky. I liked his fearlessness when going over the middle.

Sorry. I doubt he'll be back.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

Great another waisted early round pick. BB continues to trade back and draft busts. A fine example being trading the Clay Matthews pick to the packers and drafting D. Butler and Ron Brace. I think its time we re-visit the draft strategy and maybe trade up and get impact players.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

This obviously means the Pats are planning to draft a receiver. They have to now.

You can't go into next year with Branch, and.... Ochocinco won't be back.

Michael Floyd is someone I think the Patriots should look into with one of their first round draft picks. It might be gamble to not go defense with both first picks, but Floyd would look GREAT in this system.

He's a big target, that's strong, and runs good routes. Exactly what the Pats lack at the receiver position.

Oh Gawd; the Big Receiver Lust is starting already and so are the silly fantasies about drafting one of these full-length-fur-coat guys in the first round no matter how poor a character he is.

Floyd would be perfect for the Bengals but BB would never draft him.

Ooops Paul Newman. Sorry for my rude post; it makes me sound like one of the typical douche bags on this forum.

There is nothing wrong with Big Receiver lust. I get shutdown corner lust every winter; such fantasies are what makes the end-of-the-season and offseason fun. Alas both of us are denied year after year.... Floyd might slip in the draft and may have cleaned up his act so who knows...

We got Gronk b/c of that trade w. GB
Therefore Gronk>>>> Matthews

Maybe it's just me but doesn't it seem like there's going to be more than the normal amount of those prototypical #1 WR's we're all dreaming about available in the draft next year?

Or...hmm, Belichick loves signing players who always destroy his team...how much would Reggie Wayne cost?

2009 Entire Draft Class<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Clay Matthews

We drafted Chung, Brace, Butler, Vollmer, Tate, McKenzie, Ohrnberger, George Bussey, Jake Ingram, Myron Pryor, Julian Edelman, Darryl Richard. Good idea trading back.

Not to mention I would prefer to have a 15 sack a year dominant OLB rather then the best tight end in football; no matter how good he is.

I would love Reggie on this team. Runs every route tree. Plus it would be payback for stealing Adam.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

If you're on TFB's you-know-what list, you're history.

Very true. And it's worth mentioning that Price has never caught a pass in a game from Brady. All of his receptions in week 17 last season were from Hoyer, and in the preaseason they were from Hoyer and Mallett.

Yes, good additions to the discussion. I guess we all assumed if he could get open for those guys it would be even easier running routes for TB. I did.

To suggest otherwise, means TB would rather have you do it right and NOT get open, than to do it wrong or free form, and actually BE open wouldn't it? Is it crazy to think this? No. TB is so methodical, that open and wrong, could be worse for the overall efficiency of his reads and passing performance. That's one or two possibilities.

Then we have this; Price's complete yet obviously limited performance sample those of used as best we could as given to evaluate his talent (and mostly came to the same conclusion) simply was not indicative of his actual true talent. Hey that stuff happens in Probability & Statistics. So this is where the surprise comes from. Humans as a species obviously don't like this. It's tough to swallow. With your very own eyes, you watch him perform at a high level enough times that your brain says he's so-and-so good. And you're completely WRONG. You're left with either, you can't believe your own eyes or your brain, or both, or you are right and BB is wrong. Whew, much easier doing that.

Add that fact BB on the other hands has seen 1000X more plays than us. His evaluation is therefore around 1000^2 better than ours, or some other basic rule of sample size accuracy like that. So if we take simplest explanation, as it usually turns out to be, its because of this and the paragraph above as to why we are all so surprised as well as the reason why he's no longer here. Final answer? Yes, final answer Alec.

And for the conspiracy theorist, there's the still as of yet DIS-PROVEN possibility of door number C.

C) Price was caught mid solo loving to TB's pilfered phone photos depicting a wet naked Gizelle.

In response BB again displays his shrewd evaluation skills; Quickly deciding TB will NEVER throw to TP no matter how open, covered, in, out, healthy, injured, on the field or on the plane he actually is. :bricks:

LOL ok.
We got an all pro TE who has 21 TDs in 27 games.
We got butler and tate in 2009 with the Clay Matthews pick, and then used the third to trade it to the future which was used to get the second rounder they used on Gronk.
How is HgG Clay doing this year? I wonder why his sack performance is declining. 5 sacks. One of them he got because he was the closest GB defender ( 5 yards away) next to Cam Newton running out of bounds 1 yard short from the LOS.

Must be related to the Hgh discussion between the NFL and the union.

Gronk is the center point of our offense. He can block like a tackle and run routes and catch TD's. I'll take him 100 times out of 100 instead of a blitzer who can't set the edge or cover.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

who knows, maybe Tiquan Underwood can contribute for us these next 5 games...just because he was an UDFA doesnt mean he cant be better than Taylor Price...lest we forget Danny woodhead and wes welker were UDFA's

im not gonna judge the kid on one (horribly) dropped pass from his only target.

the difference in comments that Brady made in separate interviews when asked about Taylor Price and Tiquan underwood is pretty telling.

Taylor Price- "hes like any young player he needs to gain trust to be a part of the offense"

Tiquan Underwood- "hes a dependable practice player, he really picked up our offense quickly"

Let me mark you down as another reason I'm thankful BB is the HC/GM of this team and not you.

If they don't trade back in 2009, they don't get the pick in 2010 that they used to pick Gronkowski. And if you think Matthews is a "15 sack a year dominant OLB," you need to get your eyes checked. Not only has he never had 15 sacks, but he's on pace for less than half that this year.

How is he doing? He is the best defensive player on an unbeaten football team who happen to be the defending superbowl champions. I would say pretty well. Yeah, his numbers are down, his impact is not. He gets doubled every play, which allows other guys to make plays. Meanwhile the Patriots have one of the worst pass rushes in the NFL. I am happy to say it has looked better of late but it would be worlds better if we had that animal. Gronk is the man, no denying that; but if BB could go back and had the choice of picking between the two he would take the game changing OLB. We trade back every year and pass on impact players. It is time to re-thing our drafting.

Except the part where hes not their best player on defense. They have a pair of corners who are much bigger impact players this year, and one of them is like 73 years old.

...and the part where NE has a better pass rush than about half of the NFL. I also don't think he would choose Matthews over Gronk, especially knowing what he knows now. He's been searching for a stud TE since he left the Giants. He hasn't attempted to draft a "game changing" defensive player since Seymour that I can think of.

Gronk is showing consistency and improvement while Matthews is doing the opposite it would appear.

Gronk would be a top 5 pick if the 2010 draft could be redone. I don't believe the same for Matthews right now.

I didn't include Gronk with the rest of them, just the entire 09 draft. Nor would I actually make a trade like that; however he has more value then all of them combind. I agree it's great we got Gronk from the trade back. But BB misses on a large enough percentage of picks that our defense lacks impact players, so it stinks. If we actually drafted in the first round more often then we would have more impact players. The NFL is a matchup league and impact players win games. Look at what the Packers have done over the last five years; a high amount of impact players.

He does not get doubled every play. It's rare that he gets doubled. You notice how on some plays they now use him instead of a traditional 34OLB, they use him as a LB blitzing???

We have the worse pass rushes in the NFL??
What games are you watching. Actually, do you even watch NE football??? We are tied at 14th for sacks. Guess who is tied w. us...wait for it...Green Bay.

Actually, Bill would take Gronk 100 times over 100. He loves TE's He spend 2 1st rounders looking for players like Gronk. Heck, even he was the Browns HC, he was about to take Kyle Brady, the TE, before the NYJ came in and took him. BB traded down and took someone else.

Last time I checked, TD>>>>>>>>>> sacks. Gronk has 21 tds in 27 games. Clay has 25 sacks in 42 games .

I'll take the TE.
