Patriots Pregame Thread Patriots @ Seahawks pre-game discussion

Pregame Discussion ahead of the LIVE game day discussion thread. The actual Game Thread will Open an hour ahead of kickoff.
This was a bad year to soft-roll the preseason. It's not like we're starting with the Raiders or Jets.
I think we get beat, just because there's a lot of new pieces to work into chemistry. I don't think it's a defensive masterpiece like the SB, but I think SEA will do just enough and Pats will make a few mistakes typical of a preseason game for the starters.
We'll lose by ~4. But it'll give the team the urgency to win the next 2. I think we'll beat PIT & JAC, and good chance @BUF too.
Yup, the first 4 games are vs 2025 post season teams and 3 games are away.

7 games from the Pats first 11 games are on the road. Nobody can claim that the Pats have a soft 2026 schedule.

I highly doubt McD will sit Doubs and play Chism III.
True, but if there was ever a time for JMD to remember how Brady had to win sometimes - with dink & dunk to RB's and WR's who can get open quick in tight space. That is certainly Chism more than it is Doubs - even though he has a pretty good wingspan and hands.

I'd like to see them start with a spread idea - Brown, Pop, Doubs/KW, Henry, Rham/Kiner - and go quick, just slicing and dicing. Own ToP, sustain drives, wear down their overly aggressive D. Run from pass looks, Pass from run looks - capitalizing on Rham and Gilliam's dual threat capability. That's a recipe for victory this time around.

I think as of today, the biggest question we have is whether the defense can summon enough pressure on the QB to take advantage of our excellent secondary. To answer that I'd like to point out that for the better part of the great 2 decade run the Pats had, we RARELY had what one would call a great INDIVIDUAL pass rusher. Chandler Jones was about the only one I could remember off hand. However we generally had defenses that ranked in the top 10 of sack ratings.

Schemed pressure is one of those things BB did so well back in the day, especially in that 2001-2007 run. For BB pressure was what he needed to make his defenses work. Sacks and QB hits were the gravy. IF the Pats were able to speed up the clock on the QB and get the ball out fast Bill could make defenses work even if they too lacked great individual players. Good players were enough.

Now, given that we have a GREAT group of individual players in our current secondary will a Jones Jacas, and Ponder rotation be enough to give us that push we need to make sure Darnold gets the ball out of his hands in under 3 seconds. I'm hoping this summer, Kur was studying old BB game plans seeing how the master was doing it back in the day and incorporating them into his own initial plans for the challenges he will face this week.

Will we play more man this week? Will he rush 4 or 5 most of the time? What will be the blitz percentage during the game? Those are the things I will be watching closely. As for the offense, I don't know WHAT to expect. I'm just finding it difficult to conceive just how ANY NFL offense can be counted on to run smoothly given how little the Starters play now in the pre-season. My AI told me that the over/under for TO's this week is 2.5, I would say THAT is the best bet of the night. I think 3 is an easy number. RB's who will face fully live action for the first time, are rife for fumbles, same goes for OL's and WR's that could lead to strip sacks and interceptions. I might just join draft kings just to make that bet.

Eh they get the benefit of the doubt they're the defending champs opening at home where it's tough for any opponent against the team that they beat handily in the Super Bowl. All but one are by no more than 1 score so that's some respect there for the Pats. With that said I think week 1 is a great time for the Pats to play them. Gonzo needs to be active though for sure.

It sounds tough at first. But from a scouting and logistics standpoint it's probably The best case from an overall season standpoint. Healthy, fresh, no tape on their new offensive, and it being on a Wednesday and the first game of the season completely takes out the west coast trip that's hard. They've been able to be out here for a few days.

What a joke Prisco is
Has us at 16th.
Should make Sam happy.

Does not make me happy at all.
My opinions are obviously not designed to win a popularity contest.
I say what I think and I realize few here agree.

In my view the running game, Edge depth and LBs are huge weaknesses are that were not adressed as they should have been in off srason.

Injuries are inevitable in NFL. When they happen, Prisco’s prediction will be fairly accurate

Bulletin Board Material!!!

You hear that, Gonzo?????? “To be elite…”

Unacceptable.

Strap his ass UP!…..Again…

I just don’t know about our lines. If they are ok, NE has a legit chance. But if the OL flounders and the edges underwhelm….

Smith-Njigba's going to be in for a long evening, considering he's going to be the Seahawks entire offense on Wednesday.

Right. Kick off on the road, then ten days to get ready for the Steelers.

I feel like coming over there to stock your fridge. So do you like Lite?

I know it's a Wednesday night I don't care
