Let's Hope it's not Chism again...

While I agree he was bad last year, I think there is hope this year.
He looks much more decisive this year from the clips I've seen.
He may just have been too tentative last year, wasn't fully comfortable/committed to work out of structure.
He had the one return in the preseason where I saw more wiggle, opposed to last year just running north south, again perhaps tentative to try and make a play.

Henderson has now missed multiple practices, doubt he plays. Barmore is new, not a good sign.

Right. I knew all that, thought maybe you had new info.
We are 3 days away, so this is akin to a player missing Thursday practice in a normal Sunday game week.
Not ideal, but still a sliver of hope.

Yeah. That's a valid point. Speaking of returner I believe Pop or Williams should have those primary duties of course Marcus is the leagues best at it. But pop and Williams along with Chism would be the sort of guys I'd like to have those duties. I was thinking of last season when I sas thinking of Chism as a returner.

You're absolutely right. As far as the matchups DD.. I'm feeling like we need to switch up the match up.. Marcus and a safety on JSN.. I believe that even though Gonzo locked him up Marcus would probably be the guy I'd put on him with safety help. Put Gonzo on shaheed take away that down field passing option and Darnold is sure to see ghosts again!

I'm not sure how we will play it.
We played zone close to 70% last year.
The SB was similar at a 65% rate.
If Google is correct, Gonzo manned up on JSN 14 times, allowing 1 catch on 3 targets.
Darnold only passed for 202 yds and was 50%, 19/38 and Walker had 26 of those yds out of the backfield.
I would stick with the same plan, as we essentially shut their passing game down.
Setting the edge in the run game is the key imo.

That might be a good chance to see if the new guy, Reed, can cover as well as the discussion when we got him suggested he can.

Good points! I'm hearing he's supposed to be a talented player with strong upside so I'd expect us to have alot of 3 safety looks.. so to your point week 1 would be a great opportunity. Double JSN erase shaheed make Darnold have to go elsewhere.

Thank you for that stat line! Well only reason I'm saying maybe Vrabel should throw a wrinkle becuase Seattle will be expecting a similar game plan. Seattle has a new OC that I believe we can exploit. Zone can be helpful and we played Zone because we were heavy blitz team last season. No Kenny walker is a huge loss for Seattle and high win for us.

However no one would have thought a 3rd round RB from Toledo would tear us a new one when we dropped the banner in the Season opener at home in 2017.....only to see him go off for 246 combined yards and 3 tds after fumbling his first career carry!

Love it! I know one thing this front 7 has some pride and becuase they were constantly on the field so much during the playoffs they gave up runs. I believe the theory is stuff the run early to even take Seattle trying to run out the game. Yoi Want sam Darnold with the ball in his hands. You want him to be forced to beat you. For example look at his past 2 stops. Vikings with JJ, Seattle with JSN and Kenny walker. Go look at who he was at other places. That is what he really is closer to as a QB IMO.
