Pretty excited to have Scott Peters on the staff. I’ve considered Bill Callahan second to Scar as the best oline coach out there. Here’s to hoping Peters was a sponge working under him and bringing some of that type of coaching back to NE.
You mean like Klemm was supposedly a sponge working under Scar?

I’m hoping, but skeptical until I actually see results.

Klemm was only a player for Scar. He never coached under him. No idea what his situation was when he coached here for all of a month or so. Not sure if it was health related or differences of opinion with Bill? He hasn’t been hired by any club as far as I know.

If Wallace works out to be a solid to above average LT, that would (obviously) be massive for our franchise rebuild. That opens up next years likely higher first round pick being open to everything.
We will find out soon, he’s practicing there already so they definitely want him playing there. Even if he’s slightly below average, it’ll be fine as long as the rest of the line is decent (which it should be - Andrews/Sow/Onwenu are good to great and one of Strange/Leverett/Robinson will be good at the LG spot)

I don’t think it will be fine, unless Jacoby can throw with his left arm.

but think Wallace is as good a project LT as we could have got at 68.

This could be true, but does "as good a project LT" mean? Switching a tackle from the right to left is always very tricky. Can we agree that a third round "project" switching from RT in college to LT in the NFL is unlikely to work out?

Maybe Wallace was at RT since there was a superior player at LT.

The Rats chose Fashanu at #11.

We can agree switching sides can be tricky but I think from what we heard it seems he's a likely candidate for it to work out. There seems to be a very logical reason other than footwork that kept him on the right side so I'm actually quite intrigued. He's not some first round pick where you definitely have confidence but doesn't seem like footwork will be the issue so seems like we actually got a decent mid round LT prospect.

Yes, I agree that it is unlikely to work out. I am still alright with the pick because I think he could play G or RT, I don't want them to keep moving big Mike around but increased competition will better the OL has an unit. I think they could have gone a different position at 68, but I am happy with their draft overall.

Why don't you think it will be fine? I mean I have some skepticism as well, but think Wallace is as good a project LT as we could have got at 68.
You answered your own question: the Pats are rolling with a RT taken at 68 who didn’t play LT in college, and LT is by far the most important position on the OL. He might work out in the end, but saying we’ll be fine is painfully optimistic. A project player will be trying to stop the best edge rushers in the game. Sure, there are mitigations, but those condense the playbook quite a bit. If the LT can’t do his job, others have to help him (RB trying to slow down the rush), the ball needs to come out quickly (shuts down much of the passing game), the running game better be good, etc.

I can’t say I mind much because we’re rebuilding, but I just don’t want to see Drake become part of this experiment until it is a proven success. I’m confident the Pats will be selecting a LT with their first pick next year.

No doubt there’s a lot of uncertainty. As long as Brissette is the one under center and they have another vet backing him, I don’t mind. But if they throw Maye out there and he gets seriously hurt because of this experiment, the stupidity of the Patriots this year will be the stuff of legend. Just keep him out of harm’s way and pick a stud LT next year.

It seems almost every year the most interesting position battle of camp is the WR's.
This one is another crowded group - with no true #1 star. I believe Bourne will be the leader of that room, as he's earned.
My guess for 6-man roster: Bourne, Douglas, Polk, Osborn, Baker, Reagor

JSS would be a decent veteran to keep, but won't provide anything that Osborn & Polk can't. In fact, KB, KJ, Polk & Baker are basically the same type of WR. So we'll see. The main knock on the 2 rookies is they're both 4.5+ guys.
This would leave us without a "burner", but TT just hasn't been effective enough to keep.
Reagor would be the fastest outside guy, and be best KR option. We'll see.

That's the way I see it too, unless Bourne has to start the season on the PUP list...

These linemen they drafted are super smart and funny guys. Watching their interviews after the draft and now, it strikes me how charismatic they are. Overall it seems like Wolf and company really focused on character with many of these selections.

Shouldn't have had to come at the expense of Talent.

If he develops some touch this year, then I agree.
Never know how a player's going to develop no matter how much you give him. Better to have as much talent at the QB position as possible. For a number of reasons.

1. Brissett is on a short deal.
2. The teams going to take it slow with Drake knowing he's the guy.
3. Even as a rookie having to work on his touch and accuracy he's a better option than Zapp.

I truly believe this season is very important. This isn't a throw away year like some have made to be. We've had seemingly throw away years the last 3. The development of maye and the young players, along with being competitive is what the teams goal is. The LT position will all be sorted out in camp. I would seriously doubt our O line could be worse than last seasons.
