Kind of sad that our local sports scribes do not do the necessary homework to provide intelligent information...

Trollin Volin et al.. lazy. Pats fanatics know more than they do, maybe they should all fact check with Miguel before posting..

One would think it a COMMON SENSE thing to do when one has zero expertise in a complex area like cap management.

All the MCI had to do was go to Miguel's page or text him the question.

Instead, he puffs out his chest and puts out misinformation in an area in which he he FULLY KNOWS he's deficient. What's truly incredible is that he has done this repeatedly over the years and somehow hasn't learned the lesson. A 5 year old would be more aware.

It takes a unique character to do that in public. The man has the courage of William Huang.

I love how the MCI still kept digging his hole deeper TWICE after the first "..... so it sounds like a bit of a paycut" tweet:

    2. Replying to @BenVolin
Due 5.5m, deal could easily be drop to 1m base and convert the other 4.5m to signing bonus. That wouldn’t be a pay cut.

    3. The details will come out soon enough. I’m betting there’s a pay cut involved

They came out. There wasn't a pay cut.

      link?
  1. Then the commenter comes through with the link (thanks Miguel!) -

    Retweeted Cap Space=$7,984,519

    Cap Space=$7,984,519 @patscap
Cannon did not take a pay cut. He simply turned his $5.5 million salary into a $1 million salary and a $4.5 million signing bonus.
  3. - - - and the MCI slithers away and disappears from his own convo.

Pathetic.

Two points here:

1. I am so happy for this guy. Marcus Cannon was dealing with cancer eight or nine years ago which is the scariest thing you can hear a doctor say, and he persevered. In the early days he was the reincarnation of Max Lane against Reggie White, and several people here were calling for him to get cut. He's emerged as a dependable right tackle who now has three Super Bowl appearances under his belt. This is a story of Scarnecchia and Belichick sticking with a guy who showed courage and who did the hard work to get better and better. It needs to be told.

2. Ben Volin is unfit to be the Boston Globe football reporter. Instead of seeing an amazing story of a team extending one of its best players to keep a unit together while giving itself some cap relief, he tweets like a moron about a pay cut. Every single year players all over the league convert salary to signing bonuses to make that money guaranteed, tack on a year or two to spread out the cap hit, and buy themselves some time to possibly stay in the NFL. It's Pro Football 101. Will McDonough is spinning in his grave.

He so richly deserves his MCI nickname.
