What is the purpose of that restriction? Seems like it hurts successful coordinators.
iirc, the rationale behind it is to allow the coaches working in the playoffs the opportunity to work uninterrupted, and allows them the opportunity to interview for the job openings...

Shouldn't matter. Maybe he bombs it and I kill it.

Nah, the BS about Vrabel being the choice and then the Rooney Rule crap and this is the result. I don't blame him, and I wouldn't blame Johnson if he backed out as well.

I don't know if guys like that listen to any of the noise but if they do...ouch.
I get it. But he also likely saw that he wasn't going to have real shot anyway and likely he and his agent felt thier were more realistic opportunities.

Of course, but that sentiment most likely was formed, if it was, because of the careless media talk about Vrabel.

It does seem like typical (recent) RKK populism - where he heard the blathering of innumerous online pundits accusing him of tokenizing the Rooney rule with Hamilton & Leftwich, so he jumped through another hoop to make it look genuine. Good for Glenn for not falling for it. And so-the-hell-what!! Glenn will get a job based on his experience and merit - as everyone should.
If an owner of a company wants to hire someone without the woke intersectionality police checking your quota, he should be able to.

He prob feels like the pats requested the interview due to the flack they were taking with the Rooney rule.
All the coaches they interview before Vrabel were black so it’s been satisfied, and at still stupid

Interesting that he will go ahead with all the other requests.

Thoughts :
He thinks Vrabel has the job
He might not like the current roster
Kraft isn’t the owner Kraft thinks he is
He has a beef with or personal view of the area

There is no substitute for Guys like that: it should be the criteria. Knowing your X's and O's and situational Football is not automatic like Mayo thought.

Imagine this requirement being debatable.

Right, why try if you think that you will lose.

The only automatic Mayo taught was automatic first down.. from the defense for holding or horse collar tackle or pass interference from the quick sand LBs trying to cover..

The media hypes up anything they can get wind of off.. it's like a fart in an elevator with some media stories.

Exactly. I just feel Vrabel all around as a coach is just the best fit. Hopefully this comes to fruition. There is also some talk of Mc Daniels as OC.

I do not blame Glenn. Completely understandable. The optics weren’t great and he probably believed Pats were using him as a prop

The whole Rooney rule is a joke and Glenn knows it.

Pats may have secured themselves a bad reputation among black head coaching candidates

Fired Mayo
Used Lefwich, Hamilton and Glenn as props

IMO Hamilton was a good OC. I seriously believe the Patriots brought him in for the potential available OC position.
