They are looking elsewhere because he's a Raider now
I don;t know what you are smoking, but I want some of it please.

Assuming Vrabel is the guy it's possible this interview is about getting to know him and judge whether they want to try to get him out of Detroit to be our DC.

If i really want to put on my tin foil hat it could even be Vrabel's suggestion.
He can’t leave for another team in a lateral move.

Sure, but when we went looking to buy a house, we fell in love with one pretty quickly. We still looked at a lot more houses to be sure.

We were the other way 'round when it came to purchasing this place. Looked for 2.5 years and all I heard was 'no' outta the bride. She walked in here and immediately had psychological possesion of the place, right down to figuring out what was going where. I objected to the top of the market selling price, lack of a garage, ****ty roads and the fact that it's on the side of a friggin mountain. So naturally we bought it, had to go over asking to secure it too.

I'm kinda on board with this one myself , I haven't heard anything about any other coach they are interested in. The so called reporters don't know jack about who the Pats are going to pick.

I hope the interview everyone they can.

I would like Glenn... as a DC. But I still believe the top two HC candidates for us are Vrabel and Ben Johnson.

Vrabel is probably leading right now because of prior connections to our franchise and Kraft. But who knows if Ben Johnson blows them away in the interview, they might go with him.

I'd certainly feel more excited if they hired say Ben Johnson as our offensive minded HC and Glenn as our DC. But who knows maybe both Lions coordinators land separate HC gigs.

He can't or do you mean he won't?
He can’t. Unless the Detroit Lions for some reason let him out of his contract and tell him he is free to go sign with the Patriots.

I don’t think so
The Ownership and QB situation there will spook most HC candidates
Brady may recruit and sit in on HC interviews.
But the candidate knows TB is just their for consultant purposes protecting his 5% share of the team
Vrabel will have to deal with the red headed inbred and that was his first need. Strong ownership he can deal with
Vrabel specifically said he needs a QB he can win with
There is none in LV and the 6th pick in this draft don’t get you much at the QB position
I think Vrabel goes there to drive up his salary. Why wouldn’t he. But it is a business trip only
Just my take.
Aaron Rodgers.

This might have something with people crying about the Patriots making a mockery of the Rooney Rule.
The people crying about the Rooney Rule are all missing the part that to meet the requirements, the minority interviews have to be IN PERSON. However, all of these coordinators that are still employed, whether they are in the playoffs or not, are forbidden from doing in person interviews until either January 20th or the day after their season ends (whichever comes last).

So let’s say the Pats never talked to Leftwich and Hamilton, they only interviewed Vrabel and Johnson and Glenn and let’s say Flores too. But those last 3 all have to be via Zoom. And then let’s say they decided they love Vrabel and wanna hire him. Well, they can’t because their minority interviews weren’t in person. So they either have to wait another 2 weeks to do second interviews with Glenn and Flores in person, or they have to go find 2 unemployed guys who are minorities to interview - which is what they did, but they did it first instead of last.

Everyone in the media *****ing about this seems to be missing this critical fact. Probably willingly so.

I understand but that just feeds the narrative.

Aaron Rodgers.
The lad is so washed up and will take so much air out of the building
I think when Vrabel said a QB that can win
It meant more than a year
I would not be surprised if AR retires

AR’s ego is so huge he won’t/can’t retire. That said, I really really hope he stays and does ok and is EXTENDED…this way we get to witness more Jete stank/drama/failure.

I'm having a difficult time locating his HC experience
Similar to Ben Johnson's, another compelling candidate.

He signed an extension February '23. He's probably still under contract with the Lions.

Playing hard to get may backfire, particularly if some of the other Patriots interviewees shine.

What is the purpose of that restriction? Seems like it hurts successful coordinators.

I honestly have no idea. To make sure you really get a good feeling for the person? It seems stupid to me

The only thing that makes sense is it's a dated rule that was enforced to prevent teams from conducting an easy blow off interview.
