nice framing Rob,
are signed jersey's by HOFer's worth anything? maybe a silly question, lol just curious
I actually have decent amount of experience in this because I bought a lot of stuff for my man cave. Signed merchandise is usually relatively expensive. But it all depends on the player, how often he signs things, and the demand.
For example, the place I got the Gronk jersey has the same frame with Brady's jersey for nearly $2k. Brady's stuff is alway expensive because he only does a signing show once a year or once every other year and charges $750-$1,000 per autograph (usually only memorabilia companies go to these shows for resale). On the other hand, Welker stuff is relatively inexpensive because he does more shows and charges far less. Ironically, Woodhead stuff are more expensive than most current players.
I have Bruschi Jersey framed much the same except it has the three Super Bowl patches instead of the photos at the bottom and I paid $500 for it. The Gronk was a little less.
If you are looking for signed merchandise, be careful. Most of the stuff you find on the Internet is counterfeit. I got burnt on a few pieces.
If you are looking for real stuff at decent prices, I have found a few places. Locally, New England Pictures (I go to the one at the South Shore Plaza) is good. If you go, don't pay sticker price. You can usually haggle with them.
On the Internet, Steiner Sports is the biggest and most reputable. They are expensive. I found sportsmemorbilia.com got good stuff at decent prices, but they are more of a middleman. They buy from reputable companies many times for less than you can buy from them direct, but it is a bit more of a crapshoot.
I expect that Gronk's jersey will be a great investment if he gets in the Hall. The value may double to quadruple, but I didn't buy it to resell. Granted if Gronk starts to go autograph crazy and the market is flooded, the value could go down. If you are looking for a Gronk jersey, now is the time to get it before the demand gets great.
Probably far more information than you were ever looking for when you asked.
