Last year we were definitely bottom 5 - Mayo simply didn't have a Rolodex, so his staff was filled with B-listers who were there because they had connections with Eliot Wolf.

And we haven't had a decent set of O-line coaches since Dante left. We were truly spoiled by him - in fact his unhappy parting gift to us was the management's residual belief that you could take some O-line cast-offs and second-raters and still make a decent O-line out of them.

This isn't quite true. The O-Line was a strength in 2021 when it was coached by Bricillo, despite losing the unvaccinated Popovich. They had real success with a line-up of Wynn, Karras, Andrews, Mason and Onwenu.

It was only in 2022 when the greatest coach of all time decided to give the line to Matt Patricia and Billy Yates that it became the team's biggest weakness.

Last years staff..I called them YMCA volunteers.. BB had loyalists for example. By the way the staff was assembled fpr mayo was a direct reflection of him not going the route it takes to become a HC.. you want to become a coordinator.. at other spots to grow your knowledge and experience as well as gain connections with NFL people. Agreed we absolutely were spoiled by having dante who was with the organization forever. The OL was just never properly assembled over the years. We had a great year from Trent Brown then we've been chasing decent LT play ever since. However coaching had so much to do with it.

Ok let’s trade Polk & Bourne to the 49ers for Bosa. They literally have no healthy receivers.
a 6th and a 7th is more likely

Well he’s not a 4th safety. Hes a starter. He will play the most or second most snaps of the safeties.
I suspect that it would be best to think that we have 3 starters at safey and 2 starters at corner. That may very well be our most likely base to start the game. And, personally, I really like our set of 5 starters.

Polk is going the all too familiar routes of his previous wr bust predecessors.. N'Keal Harry. Tyquan Thornton.. he's going to likely end up on IR this season..
So, you are saying that Polk has at least a 3-year future in the NFL as a backup?

Thornton is a good example.

If this were BBs defense, sure, but Vrabel traditionally has always had 3 corners and 2 safeties in base.
But with any good coach, personnel affected that too.

By his draft status he's going to hang around.. IR is likely where he's going to be for a while with that shoulder..

Post Training Camp Day 1 - August 11

Camp technically ended sunday... Todays practice is not open to the public... two weeks in, do we have a better understanding of who makes the 53 by now? we still have a lot of football left until cut down day...

My favorite Jeremy Springer interview is the one in which real-life mother & daughter call-girls started sucking face and grabbing each other's titties & asses... I hope they have that one...

That’s not a fair statement on Baker. He only played 51 snaps all year before 38 in a game we tried to lose.
He couldn’t get snaps theoretically because he didn’t know the offense.

I wouldn’t think judging some on 50 snaps over 4 months when he doesn’t know the offense is fair.

Judge him for being too dumb, but gotta get him in the forms to determine if practice doesn’t translates to the field

Dude never should've been drafted in the first place, same as 2/3rds of the league's teams were prepared to not do too.

I was surprised they didn't take a chance there on Maye's go-to-guy at UNC, Devontez Walker.

Why do people keep saying **** like this when we know that in almost every case it's not true? Is it because they've been so used to lying over the years that lying has become their default setting for explaining things to the un-washed masses?

Dugger was also an older prospect when we drafted 23+ I believe .

He was already 24 when he was drafted... from a Division 3 school... ahead of Trevon Diggs & Antoine Winfield Jr, among others...

That's why he was known as Uncle Dugg on campus.

Dude's already 29 now.

One thing I have to commend the organization on.. and this is in no way a shot at BB.. this staff is probably as good a staff as I can remember collectively in years. From the all the former HCs to the assistants everyone is experienced. This has to be a top 5 coaching staff in the league.

I wish they had retained Bob Bicknell as TEs coach; and I'm not a big fan of our WRs coach either.

Dawghouse to the 49ers; but sloPolk should be traded instead to the ATL to reunite him with his college QB Penix...

Marrone is not exactly the gushing teenager hyperbole sort, so just maybe it is true?
