In truth you are right, this isn't a big deal. But players will go somewhere if they think it will benefit how they look. The Patriots do not look like a great place for a WR. Between the uncertainty at QB, the line, and the reality that outside of some diehards, most people around the league think our WR room is a big joke, it just a situation a potential number 1 is going to be scared off by.

If Maye looks like Burrows or Josh Allen, New England will become the #1 destination for an elite WR.

I think they are happy with the young guys. But if they were satisfied with what they had, they wouldn't have been willing to trade for Aiyuk and make him one of the top WRs in the league.

How can they be satisfied? Between Baker, Pop, Polk, there are only a few games played.

It's John Lynch still their GM??
Yes, and he has full control of the roster. With us mayo has control of the roster and Wolf has final say.. mayo doesn't report to Wolf he report to ownership.

Agree. I applaud the organizations efforts to add a top WR, but it's such an emotional roller-coaster. I'm willing to see what this season looks like.. with polk and baker. If Jacoby is playing well and we're winning we won't get to see what Drake looks like this season.

The 49ers chose Shanahan and he hand picked Lynch, they’re buddies but Shanahan is the straw that stirs the drink.

Wolf and Jon make personnel decisions now, I’m sure Mayo weighs but it appears like Mayo can just concentrate on head coaching his stable of 50 coaches.

Good! Seven years from now after playing mediocre football with the Browns and we’re on another SB run, he’ll be begging to finish his career with us just like our old friend Randy!!

Still nothing this morning. Like I said yesterday, the Patriots had the biggest offer and publicly “dropped out”, signaling to the couple of other interested teams there is no longer a mega deal on the table for Aiyuk. This may cause those teams to alter their offers in terms, guarantees, AAV etc or alternatively change what they’re offering in comp to SF as they have less competition. It could cause the whole thing to fall through.

The key piece here is that Aiyuk seems committed to wanting to go to Pitt, but if Pitt knows this and also knows their top competitor NE is out of the race then they’re not going to offer much for him. May be shooting himself in the foot. We’ll see if things “stall” with Pittsburgh again, at which point he may want to call and see if Wolf still has any interest…

Lynch was there before shanny. When shanny left Atlanta remember? Lynch was instrumental in putting together the defensive roster not shanny.. offensive mind yes! However I read Lynch has control of the roster like any GM and coach. But yes I'd rather mayo focus fully on coaching and coaching decisions. Some people think he reports to wolf he doesn't he reports tp Kraft. Wolf and groh make the final personal decisions they are the GMs.

He’ll struggle to top 1000 yards with Russell Wilson and Fields as his QB.
Remember navy Bill had a huge staff in years past as well. He shortened that staff ironically when he had to compensate them.

Nope, you’ve got it backwards. Kyle was hired and brought Lynch in. He handpicked his GM.

I wonder if the team will still offer what they were if he comes back to the table, or go tell him to kick rocks.

When did Bill have a huge staff?

I dont recall the staff getting shortened. And to counter your point When Josh came back he got paid a lot so if the BS about Bill paying his staff at the expense of his own salary is true he was clearly willing to do it for the right coach.

Or...................................................

Pittsburgh is never going to present an accepted offer because SF wants to keep him, and knows Aiyuk will not go to NE or Cleveland.

This might how the Niners plan to win. They gave Aiyuk the chance to make his own deal.

He also got paid more so he wouldn’t take the Colts job.

Coaching salaries don’t count against the cap, if you want to blame someone for going cheap… talk to the bosses. You can spend an endless amount on coaches.

Realfan woke up this morning and thought he’d make up some alternate history… with a small smattering of BB bashing.

Ok so volin? curran?Andrew Callahan? Karen gurregian, and people in the organization are all wrong?... it's reported in the herald investigation in December 2022. Not my words it's all reported that bills staffers were paid less than HS coaches and many wondered how long they would last. So call it BS but is reported. Furthermore bill had a staff budget..

When did Bill have a huge staff?
Lol.. here we go.. earnie adams Said himself on games with names Bill had a larger staff In comparison to the last few seasons...

Kyle controls the 53 Lynch controls the 90... Lynch was there in an assistant role before he got the GM job. Lynch was extended in 2020!
