Ask 32 GM's and head coaches in the league if they're taking Aiyuk over Tyreek Hill, Justin Jefferson or AJ Brown simply because PFF gave him a better player grade. They'll laugh in your face...

If Aiyuk was any of these players above he would already be signed to a contract with the 49ers.

He's not and they know it, they can replace him with the rookies they drafted and get similar production. They won't skip a beat.
They 49ers won't skip a beat but our 32nd Ranked Offense coming off last year would be a heck of a lot better with Aiyuk.

I just wonder if you can get a better WR with a second next year. I am a bit agnostic towards the potential trade. But Aiyuk is better value that a second rounder. He does have first round talent. Maybe not high first, but definitely first round talent. It really depends on what else the Pats have to give up. But I am ok with giving up a second for him.
Or how about don't give up a draft pick next offseason at all, just sign one of the top free agents?

What did last FA show us?? We are no longer a desirable FA destination until we improve the Offensive Roster Aiyuk would be a Start. Wozzy our Problems wasn't on Defense it was an anemic Offense lacking Quality WR's.

Bill bobos melting down over the notion of paying a top end receiver the market rate is not surprising.
I'd pay Tyreek, Jefferson or AJ Brown 30 million per if I didn't have to trade for him.

Aiyuk isn't as good as these guys.

BB has nothing to do with it, he's gone... seek professional help, move on with your life.

No top tier WRs will be free agents, you either trade for one or draft and develop one these days. When was the last time a legit WR 1 hit the open market?

Maybe Higgins, but I’d take Aiyuk over him any Sunday.

The 49ers already announced to the world how much they value Aiyuk.... listen to them.
The Niners have a whole lineup of top end talent that they need to pay, so sooner or later they had to draw a line.
Bosa
Kittle
Samuel
McCaffrey
Charvarious Ward
Fred Warner
plus maybe most important, save money to sign Brock Purdy long term

The Pats have no such "too much talent" issues

He isn't as good as those guys and in a year or two $30 million will be the 10th highest paid receiver in the league. That's how these deals go.

Bllshit... Ridley went to the Titans because of money and nothing else.

That offense sucked last year and will still stink.

Aiyuk likely benefitted from playing on a team with a tremendous number of weapons on O. Will he produce as the main target ?

Having said that - the young WRs in Foxborough would likely greatly benefit from being on the field at the same time as Aiyuk.

Interesting times ahead. I will echo posters saying they are ok either way. The player is young enough to be a factor in future seasons, if signed. Yet the team isn’t ready to contend and one extra WR won’t tip the scale, IMO, in terms of championships in the next two years, as holes must be addressed in 2024/25 ; 2025/26…

I agree with this logic.
Here are the only the only reasons I see making the trade now.

. Kraft is looking to build hype.
. Wolf wants to prove he can land a big talent
. The Patriots want to accelerate Mayes progress and think he will start sooner than later.
. The Patriots want to build the rapport between Aiyuk and Maye early.

You mean the Titans with the soon to be Great Will Levis?? I beg to differ.

Aiyuk will be a free agent if he plays out his current deal, Chris Godwin will also. Tee Higgins, Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and a host of other WR's will be free agents.

There will also be vets who simply want better deals on teams up against the cap. Players you can get for a late round pick because teams simply need to dump salary. Every year there's new opportunity, this year the free agent WR market frankly stunk.

Wolf and Mayo saw First hand how you can Ruin a Young QB they are making sure that doesn't happen with Maye.

Get RID-ley was probably the best thing for the Patriots if you think back. I like him but his best days were in Atlanta. Polk and baker project to be fine players. With a game changer like ayuik would take this bottom ranked WR Corp to a top ten offense. Factor in rham and gibby in the back field and Henry at TE... no matter who's the QB this season... this offense will be a force to be dealt with.

The cap is crap, haven't you heard?

You'll pay more than you'll pay Aiyuk and you likely won't get one. Higgins, Aiyuk and Lamb are the only 3 top wr's possible and Lamb likely signs a contract extension, Aiyuk is going to sign one where he's traded so it's ONLY Higgins, who could be franchised and then traded which is what everyone expects.

You are not getting one at Aiyuk's level in free agency.

No they all won’t, teams will franchise, teams don’t let players like that just walk for nothing.
