Trying not to care about this unless or until rumor becomes true one way or another...
I have been more protective of our guys - not wanting to lose Bourne, etc.
But the truth is - Aiyuk would be the only legit starting WR on our roster, and is something we don't know we have yet.
Sure, Polk could be that. And Baker could replicate or exceed Bourne - we just don't know.
So starting week 1 with Aiyuk, Osborn, Pop - with the 2 rookies contributing (and help from Reagor/TT) would be a lot better than relying completely on Reator/TT & the 2 rookies while waiting for Bourne to get healthy.

I’n torn about a Aiyuk trade.
The wrs have been playing in camp.
I know if Bourne goes to San Fran I’m mentally preparing myself he will have a career year and reminding myself Baker is Bourne with more upside.

I know players change over their careers, but... Kendrick Bourne already played four years for San Francisco, and his career year came in New England with Mac Jones. I love Bourne, but I wouldn't worry about him suddenly becoming more than he is in SF, because he was already there.

Is this guy really getting 30 million a year?
Aiyuk have three things going for him Work Ethic - Age - Production. He would help speed up Maye's development I'm buying.

Bourne is overrated here I like the Guy but I wouldn't miss him. We have young Guys who are going to be better.

Mike Reiss reporting the Steelers barring any changes are not in the mix to trade for Aiyuk.

I’m ok either way. I don’t think Aiyuk is a tier 1 Wr or anything, but he’s very good. You get a guy like him and he puts everyone else in better situations. Maye is young and giving him a reliable top target helps foster his growth.

I know the OL still is a huge problem, but you can’t expect them to turn around an overall terrible roster all at once. It seems as though they’ve found a guard duo that really works by retaining Onwenu. They got their young QB to build around. Aiyuk/Baker/Polk/Douglas all on multi year deals would be a strong effort at locking down the WR position long term. They kept Henry as a solid TE. Between Anderson/Okorafor/Wallace, hopefully they can get one guy who isn’t a total liability as a starter even on the Rt spot vs LT.

If we’re sitting here heading into next offseason viewing them as having a strong interior OL locked in, a quality top 4 at WR and a viable starting TE, a young QB worth continuing to develop, and one decent starting RT but a gaping hole at LT… then that’s actually a phenomenal position to be in rebuild wise. Because defensively we have a nice foundation in place.

It does feel like poor LT play could set us back even if we got Aiyuk but that isn’t the worst thing. Maye doesn’t seem ready. Let Brissett play, take the hits behind the bad OL. It costs us wins, improves our pick. Then next year you’re in position like the Bears where you’re handing over the reins to a young QB but the talent around him is exciting, because they should be able to at least stop gap address LT next year with a lot of other positions seemingly handled this year.

This will be really funny in hindsight when Javon Baker is a better outside receiver and Demario Douglas is much more explosive in the slot.

We'll be wondering why we wasted the draft pick and 30 million per... if the collaboration station swallow this they're idiots.

The 49ers already announced to the world how much they value Aiyuk.... listen to them.

Not a fan of the trade . He is not going to be stefon diggs or AJ brown.

Letting go of our 2nd next year when we have so many needs on defense and OT makes no sense .

The 30 million saved this year can be used to sign depth players for next year . And we can throw the young ones to the wolves this year and allow them to develop. This is the best opportunity for their development. Don't want reps to be taken away.

Thornton / Baker and Polk all have opportunities to develop along with Douglas emerging in the mould of Edelman . We really don't need a WR now. It's an unnecessary luxury which screws up our cap and draft assets without getting us anywhere .

Let the rookies cook

I have a feeling the trade terms are agreed with both teams. Now it comes down to who can entice Aiyuk to their team with the better contract offer. We can outspend the Browns, guaranteed money will probably be the clincher in salary negotiations.

This seems to be the reverse of what the rumor was at the draft. At the draft the rumor was Aiyuk's camp was allowed to negotiate a contract with teams that wanted him but the 49ers didn't get a trade offer they liked. Now it seems like the 49ers have found a couple offers they like but now Aiyuk's group must go back to the drawing board on a deal.

Do it. Give Maye everything possible that he needs to succeed. Based on where we are at with the position and a rookie QB and since it isn't my money so I don't care what they pay him.

30 mill a year for Aiyuk? NO!
Don't worry. It is RK we are talking about. We will be in the running, but lose, as RK has alligator arms when he pulls out his wallet.

He's younger than both and on the verge of being Great he's gotten better every year.

Not listening.

Both those guys were number 1 wrs on teams without much else on offense. Aiyuk plays on a team with Samuel, Kittle, and Mccafree.

He is literally the 3rd guy to stop on the offense.

I am ready to be disappointed.

Edit: the 49ers are just using their reporters to get the Steelers to up their offers. Aiyuk isn’t signing there or with the Browns.
Agreed. Supposedly the offer is 2nd, KB and ayuik signing a new deal with us. Instead of KB send judon I would say. Anyhow I doubt it happens!

PF2 I would absolutely love if he got him!! But like big worm told smokey... STOP PLAYING WITH MY EMOTIONS!!! Lol.

Aiyuk is not a one trick pony he plays on the Outside and goes Over the Middle he's everything you want in a WR. Remember when we had Brady - Gronk and Edelman?? How did that work out the more the merrier.
