Name any championship franchise built around Jamarcus Russell.

Since you are apparently incapable of debating it on realistic terms, name Championships built around NKeal Harry.

And while you are at it name the Championships built around Eugene Chung.

Build a team and the QB will come. Just hope that we get our franchise QB in the 4th, in the 6th or even the 7th. After all, top picks have failed lots of times, and franchise QB's have been found throughout the draft. NOT!
======================
We need to try for a top QB or risk becoming the Browns.

Alternatively, we can build a top team and hope that we can pick up an average QB that will bring us to glory. Somehow, the 49ers have done both.

I’m obviously in the draft the QB high and build around them. All I see of the other approach is a bunch of long term failures.

Okay I see your point Joe Thomas never won a championship despite being a HOF player on a crappy Browns team.

Which position do you deem more important, a LT or a WR. Because what MHJ is being described as to WR, Joe Alt is in the same category but with tackles.

It’s also worth mentioning this draft class is full or very good WRs that can be had in the 2nd and 3rd round, that’s how deep it is.

I don’t dismiss the value of great WR’s, they change the way defenses play you, but only if you have a QB who can get them the ball, and who isn’t getting killed, and these days you need 2 really good tackles, because pass rushers are now as quick as running backs, but much bigger. So I value tackles over receivers, because you have to walk before you can run, so protection first, and then the receivers.

And you are right, not only could they get their QB at 3, but they could get their tackle in the 16-32 range by trading up with their 2nd, and then go WR a couple of times, as well as in free agency.
My preference is to take one of the top 3 QB’s, then trade up and take Tyler Guyton OT Oklahoma, then take 2-3 WR’s with the remaining picks, and try to get Higgins in free agency.

I agree, draft qb at 3, then go tackle via trade up or at 34, attack WR via free agency and draft.

Resign Owesnu, let dugger walk, resign Mack Wilson, resign, Jennings, Uche, trade Judon, cut Jackson, sign Pittman, sign Brissett or Dobbs, trade for Fields, draft MH Jr, Sign or trade for a tackle use to our new offensive scheme. Draft a second wr in round 2 or three which ever isnf the Fields pick draft WRs and OT. Trade Ju Ju to Kc. Draft Joe Milton, to develop while we evaluate Fields, trade Mac Jones, draft a pass catching third down back.
Let Henry and Geiski walk, run a primarily 3 to 4 wr set use tight ends at goal line and primarily running situations, look for tight ends who’s primary skill set is to block late round picks, UDFAs, or low priority free agency.

Have an open competition at kicker.
Make getting a top center a top priority.
Replace Guy with a Dt who can rush the passer.
Watch us go from worst to first in 2 years.

I agree but only if Maye is there… If it’s Daniels I don’t know if I love the fit versus the draft position. I might explore trading with someone who wants Daniels or MHJ in exchange for a high capital this year, take my left tackle, then get a guy at QB who can be had later but is still a decent fit in the scheme - McCarthy maybe, Nix maybe. Rattler, possibly. Pratt is an option but needs development.

I do wonder a little bit about Zappe in the new scheme. He was drafted in 2022 when the team had dreams of a more West Coast looking offense. He played well that year in his spot starts running bootleg and play action which is what he would be running under Van Pelt. He struggled this year when trying to transition into a scheme he wasn’t drafted to play in. Starter? No, but might be a plus backup again. Off-topic but something that just came to mind.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but apparently, one of the few games AVP called the plays for was the wild card game in the playoffs against the Steelers. The Browns scored 48 points, 28 in the first quarter. So, there's that

I was confused until I realized you were referring to the 2020 season’s playoffs. It was at Pittsburgh as well. Not bad. Starting to warm up to the idea of AVP as our new playcaller.

The Browns under achieved. The Patriots did not.

Well that's because you're too optimistic. I would not have predicted anything more than five wins.

The Patriots didn't even address their offensive problems and rely on juju O'Brien to somehow manage this team was laughable at best.

Without knowing who they're getting in free agency it's hard to guess but giving all the changes I wouldn't expect more than five wins again.
The Browns underachieved? They made the playoffs despite having to resort to their FOURTH QB.

How many times have we heard that one of our WRs ran the wrong route? Finding a WR who is fast, elusive and can reliably catch is hard enough. But then demanding that he can also decipher the coverage and adjust his route precisely in line with the QB's thinking is apparently a bridge too far. Such guys exist, but you sure as hell don't easily find them outside the first dozen draft picks.

The modified EP that we had was very hard to work with, and it was equally hard to make it work, but when it worked, it was devastating and unstoppable.

And yes, it's very hard to find players who not only have the talents but also the ability to process fast enough to diagnose on the fly. Brady, who is a very generational talent also had phenomenal processing speed, and on the back half of his career developed institutional knowledge that he could tap into (I can count on one hand the number of time he was completely befuddled by a defense). We were also very fortunate to have players who could compliment that, with Gronk and Edelman being on top of the list.

As was the case last year, I would be very surprised if we, or anyone, passes on the top 2 QB's. Draft the available QB or trade down for a haul if you don't need a QB.
==============================
HOWEVER, then the "talent" is in the eye of the beholder. I could see teams having several QB's ahead of Daniels. In that case, we might draft the top QB on our board. The question is when. After all, after the top 2, we might have 3 or 4 at close to the same value.

If we only have one or two that we want, I could see us drafting one in the top 10, while others criticize. The risk is too great that one won't be there late in the round. I could certainly see us trading down once or twice and drafting Nix and then one or two OT's.
==========
What will AZ give us to move up a spot for Harrison?

What then will someone else give us to move up for Daniels at 4?

I would note that there are different views on who is the "best" LT and how far apart they are.

IMO, if we don't want Daniels, we can fill the three top needs in whatever order (QB, LT, RT) in the top 40 picks.

I actually wouldn’t mind Chad O’Shea coming back.

No thanks. Time to say goodbye to the E-P system. I like the idea of them moving to the Reid and Shanahan variations of the West Coast offense. Get the ball in the hands of playmakers and let them make the plays. But it would probably be a good idea to get some playmakers first.

Obviously he wouldn’t be coming back as an OC… they already hired one. But O’Shea was a decent position coach and could help in the effort of translating things to the new system, and has familiarly with both the existing NE system and the one that Van Pelt likely wants to go towards.

Jules talks highly of him

Why not, as there are so many holes to fill??

Because you need to fill the most important ones with the best players possible. They can come out of this draft with a high quality QB prospect, and a high quality OT prospect on day 1. That’s a big step in the right direction. And they can draft some really good WR prospects after that. It’s very rare that you get a pick in the top 3, especially when there are 3 highly rated QB prospects, and they need take advantage of that rare opportunity. They don’t have to pay the price to move up to get one, so just do it.

The reason I take Harrison or Alt over the remaining QB of the three is that for me, Harrison and Alt will still have 1st round trade value in 3 years.. a failed QB will be toast. Therefore we have 3 years to find someone.. if not then we will have a top pick anyway in 4 years plus the trade ammo.

Patriots are going “full throttle” in 2024 just like the Red Sox
