You can tell by looking at his reaction that he "felt something tear" versus unspecified pain? You sure watch games a lot more closely than I do.

He is evidently fine (or fine-ish) but ended up on the ground at the end of a play with his legs bent in very odd looking directions.

Just to be clear, since Lewis was knocked out of the game and the Patriots lost his services after he left and was taken to the locker room, that was the reason for the title "Patriots Lose Dion Lewis During Sunday's Win Over Washington". I posted the entry regarding the fact he was injured Sunday and knocked out of the game. The entry reflected what happened.

It wasn't my intention to be misleading. I apologize if that's how you took it, as I don't write anything or publish anything here to mislead anyone. I felt the need to clear that up as you made it seem as though I had some ulterior motive based on your post, which was never my intention.

I can't tell. I suppose I might have been influenced by the play itself before his reactions, i.e. the noncontact nature, occurring on a cut, the foot skidding. But the reaction of immediately grabbing the knee, dropping the ball, the way he seemed despondent afterwards, *seemed* to add up to more than just unspecified pain. I just thought he seemed down, as if he thought maybe his season was over, rather than just grimacing in pain.

No worries. Usually a player is out of the game or lost for the season. We are all concerned about 'losing' DL. The headline harshed my victory buzz. (I'm not a fan of the 'must see' images either. I am a fan of the forums and you in particular, though.)

That's actually an incorrect argument for a couple of reasons. One, a person who tears their ACL will often feel and hear a pop. They may also feel as though the knee is unstable. However, you could probably google stories of people who tore their knee ligaments and "knew" something was up. A quick look shows plenty of examples.

Despite that, the point is what it looked like to me, or what it "seemed like," which is what I wrote. I didn't say I had some definitive skill, or that there's high sensitivity/specificity of looking at a player's reaction. Like I wrote before, I was probably influenced by the way the whole play looked.
