Re: Patriots in mix for Kevin Walter?

It would be nice to somehow get Terrance Nunn back.

Yeah, he really dominated last year after he was signed off the Pats' practice squad

They can find a better player than Nunn in the 2nd-4th round of the draft this year

Re: Patriots in mix for Kevin Walter?

Walter would be perfect to replace Gaffney (a year late).

Re: Patriots in mix for Kevin Walter?

I'd be all for signing Walter and/or Mason (seeing as his production hasn't dropped off as I had thought).

I would take Mason on a 1-2 year deal. He'd be a big improvement over Aiken. Moss, Mason, Edelman would be just fine, Moss, Mason, Welker would be excellent. We'd still need a long term #1 to replace Moss but that would likely come from the draft. Walter would be better than Mason as he'd fill that spot more long term but Mason works for me too.

what do you think about Arrelious Benn, maybe he could be that guy in a year or two to become the pats #1

whats your take on him ?

You can get better opinions than mine in the draft room - I like Benn but I think he may be gone before our pick at #22, he could end up going before Dez Bryant as Bryant sounds like he has serious interview issues.

Next year is the stud WR draft, we may get our next Randy Moss from the Raiders too

Re: Patriots in mix for Kevin Walter?

Walter would look really good as the #3 reciever. He is very fast and has good hands. And he's used to playing beside a great #1. He had Andre Johnson in Houston and would have Moss here.

Re: Patriots in mix for Kevin Walter?

If Walter is signed do not expect Welker back for a while. They both play the 2 or 3 spot. So you would have Wes, Eidelman, and Walter. There is no speed guy in that bunch with Moss likely not to be back next year. I think he would be a big wasted of money. Get Bolding, or Marshall and then sign Brady to a long term contract. Add Thomas in the backfield and we would be set for 3 to 4 years down the line. If you want get a nice TE like Olsen and draft a young buck and we could look good.

He would play where Gaffney did. Until Welker is back, Edelman will play for him.

Re: Patriots in mix for Kevin Walter?

I think it's time for a philosophy change then, don't ya think ?

No, not really.
Walter would fill a hole in the Pats offense. He's not a #1 WR, but signing a #3 WR doesn't preclude getting a #1 WR either. Although Randy Moss appears to be filling that #1 WR role currently. I think we'll also get a young receiver in the draft.

Re: Patriots in mix for Kevin Walter?

Walter has played both the slot and outside opposite Andre Johnson for Houston. Their offense is a little different because they relied heavily on a TE, Owen Daniels, in their passing game - or at least they did before he got hurt. At 6'3" 214 he's not built like Welker and would probably be a better fit outside. Besides, the Pats have Edelman to play the slot position. As for his numbers, I'd say they were pretty good considering he was the third option in Houston's passing game. In the last three years he's averaging about 60 catches for 770 yards and 5 TD per year. And he's only 28, so he has a few good years left too.

Can I say it...

Sign the BEAST!!

Ravens want Walker badly; and pushing hard for Boldin also

Re: Patriots in mix for Kevin Walter?

Teams just seem more aggressive perusing these players and with money too. These teams dont seem worried about the 2011 season, if the Pats operate as if the 2011 is going to be locked and it ends up not being locked they will be a mediocre team.

More On Kevin Walter

I've been listening to Sirius NFL Radio the last two days and have listened to the discussion on WR Kevin Walter. He supposedly is a player LOVED by his teammates, and is said to be maybe the hardest working player on the team.

He's hard nosed. He's a great down field blocker. He's 6'3", 218 LBS. The Patriots need receivers.

I know there was another post on Walter, but his character and work ethic on top of his production seems to me to make him somebody we should key on.

Why wouldn't our management CRAVE this guy, or perhaps do they?

Anybody hear what teams are interested in this guy, because he's a BEAST, and I think our offense would love this addition? What's the word?

P.S. - He's still only 28 on top of it all.

Re: More On Kevin Walter

Patriots are cheap lol, BB and Co are over at the local Junior College recruiting as we speak.
