Only the Jets have a longer active streak.

That’s astonishing to me. Especially when you consider how the early 2000’s dynasty would score them like clockwork.

Why is this the case? Scheme? Dumb luck? Both?

Calling it now Jordan Richards 99 YD int for a TD.
It will be a ridiculous play where the ball slips comes to him he gets a convoy of blockers players take bad angles on him he gets the TD and a extension in New England to boot.

That little tidbit should come as no surprise whatsoever to anyone.

And the secondary is supposed to be the "strength" of this defense...demonstrates how bad the rest of it is.

Lack of a serious pash rush.

I'm voting for Wise or some Dlinemen to get it.

It doesn't reflect well on us defensively. But supafly isn't wrong to attribure some of it to luck. It's not like our defense was trash in 2014, 2015 or even 2016 albeit that one was overrated by some of the fans here.

Last season though our defense sucked, the pass rush was no good, the linebackers were JAG quality and that was part of the reason for a lack of play making in the secondary.

Scheme or philosophy is the main factor.
Our D is bend don't break; this means that DBs don't gamble on a pick 6 at the risk
of a completion and big gain. (It gets much ire from BB) .
Our offense scores points which means the D doesn't have to gamble.
Often we get ahead and make them go length of field each possession.
Pick 6'es often come from freelancers, who play for their own "stardom" , pro bowl
or next contract and often are traded to the Browns.

A Richards int is more likely to produce a safety after he runs 99 yds in the wrong direction.

Thing is hes very smart and aware problem is he doesnt have NFL calibur physical ability.
Who cares if you know where the ball is going if you have the speed of a sloth and reaction time of a 80 year old with dementia.

It's not like we haven't gotten interceptions. But with the quality of our offense, it makes sense just to down the ball if you pick it, and let the offense bring it home.

That actually doesn’t make any sense at all and the coaches would definitely not teach their guys that in every single situation (closing seconds of a half with the lead being the exception). If you get your hands on one and there’s any daylight whatsoever, they’re taught to run it back and carry it high and tight. That’s why they practice running it back sometimes after the Turn and Sprint Drill.

d%#*!@t Bill, how could you let Tavon Wilson walk??

You wonder if there will be little things that could alter this next season, especially now that Flores is effectively taking over the defense.

Remember when Talib and Fonzie Dennard both ran one back for a TD in the same game against rookie Andrew Luck in 2012?

Dennard’s was 90+ yards, and Talib looked like a human pinball on his. Quality pick sixes.
