The deep passing game does not become successful in isolation. The offense needs balance to keep the defense guessing. Clearly Maye and Thornton have the ability. The defense needs to respect the run game and short passing to create opportunities to strike downfield. The more situations the defense needs to account for, the easier it is for the OL and the offense in general.Thornton is the deep threat. They have Osborn slotted as that other outside WR, but seem to be pushing Baker to develop and take that job.
Now it's only a matter of them being able to block long enough to utilize the deep threat and Maye taking the QB job, because Thornton has gotten behind the defense numerous times this preseason only to have Brissett under throw him.
