Like most people have said, the Pats have better internal security about what they think about draft picks than the CIA. If there are leaks, its because they want it out there. Just remember the more QB's drafted in the first 3 rounds means better players available for the Pats at the end of those rounds. In my opinion, the QB that the Pats need this season will have 3 key qualities.
1. Be smart, hardworking, and have the physical ability to play in the NFL
2. Have a flaw (ie small college, injury, etc) that will keep him undrafted
3. Be uninteresting enough that no one will grab him off the PS
Ladies and Gentleman I give you Jeff Matthews - Cornell - Good enough for the Pats to keep him on the PS as the team's 3rd arm and see how he develops. Not good enough that he'll need a draft pick to get him.
Jeff Matthews - The good - Great arm, great size (6'4-230) smart, hard working, quick release, decent college production.
The bad - not a great athlete, dominated but it was the Ivy League, bad footwork, questionable mechanics, played in a shot gun/pistol offense.
He sound like a perfect fit. Give him a year with great coaching and a proven system, and see what happens. If he "gets it" the Pats may have found a decent back up for nothing. If he doesn't, so what?!
The only other QB I'd be interested in using a draft pick on is Logan Thomas, and that's because I want to make him a TE. Just say NO to draftable QB's this year.
